Seriously, fix these [expletive deleted] CTD issues. I've spent alot of money on this game just to have this latest expansion totally[expletive deleted] up. I have about 690 hours spent on this game and never had it crash till this latest expansion, and it's pissing me off to see beta patch after beta patch focusing on piddly [expletive deleted] like Muslim decadence.

Hell, if this helps you guys out or not. Here is a bugged save. Successfully CTD'ed on multiple windows machines
background info: main char is feudal norse king of england, i have 5k of tribal armies left over from tribalism. got 2 wars going on, both holy wars. 1 vassal is leading a county conquest for lincoln in england.

Load it and let it run normally till 22nd of aug and the game crashes. Load it and revoke all the titles from the duke of kent (my character's vassal) and you end his war. For some reason that duke's war is causing my game to crash. Since i'm playing Ironman, these constant CTD's are super frustrating. it also doesn't help that to fix this one CTD, i had to rack up 100 tyranny in my ironman game.

Sounds like a CTD I have been having since CKII first came out, with some DLC's/patches it's almost completely gone, while other DLC's/patches make it happen more frequently. Usually reverting back to an earlier autosave or two does the trick for me, though I have no idea on what causes the crashes in the first place.

Frustrating though these problems are, it is against forum rules to swear in your posts for any reason. Please don't do that any more.

As for that save game, I was able to load and run it through to the end of that year 3 times in a row with no crashes or any other issue. That would normally mean the problem is in your machine, not the game, but you say you see this on multiple computers?

On one of them at least can you please try a full clean re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere
- "delete local content" in Steam-CK2
- manually delete all files and folders left under Steam/CK2 AND Documents/Paradox/CK2
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

I completely deleted the CK2 folder, reinstalled, updated to the latest beta patch..... guess what, still crashes at 21-22 august. tested on my laptop, still crashes on this save... So please tell me what version of this game you are testing saves on, since apparently the crash issue doesn't exist for you. That way i can avoid the aggravation of repeat crashes on my ironman saves.

The same as you, 2.2.0.9 .

Been reloading the save game and tried it multiple time, unfortunatly, no CTD occured on any of those times =/

OK, let's move you to Tech Support as this is pretty clearly not a game bug.

Pick one of those machines that's most convenient, and let's get some data on it: Please post a dxdiag.txt (you can delete everything after the end of the "Sound devices" section for brevity) and your Documents/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log . Open setup.log in notepad and search for 'checksum', post that line only here too please.

Since you missed the post that had all of the dxdiag info for each machine i'll repost it. If this crashes on multiple machines, using different setups then it's a bug. Otherwise change your min-system reqs to windows 8. Since with all my testing, saves that are crashing with windows 7 machines are not crashing on the 1 windows 8 machine used. I've tied most of my personal crashes to troop movements so you might want to look into those. It would be very interesting to look at what system you guys (paradox) are testing our saves on, then comparing the differences since there are plenty of CTD threads.

I'm sure this has nothing to do with Win7 vs Win8. My own machine is Win7, and it is the most common OS of all our customers. We'd know well before now if no-one on Win7 could run the game. It was my Win7 machine I tested your save game on and it worked fine.

I told you above, in post #5 - it was then 2.2.0.9, same as you. Now you should be on 2.2.1 of course.

The version thing was just a leftover from copy/pasting the earlier post that had the dxdiag info for all 4 machines used in testing that save. The fact that the game crashed on 2 desktops and 1 laptop leads me to think that it's a issue with the game itself. Hence why i posted it in the bug forum. Also, in the last 3 years and 600+ hours of game time this game had NEVER CTD, this changed with CM.

edit: All crashes happened at the same date. Same beta version of CK2. Some differences in purchased DLC.

I agree, that was the obvious conclusion at the time, which is why I left it there for a while. But as the installed game code is identical on your and my Win7 machines, and it crashes on yours and not mine nor Mr. Nibbles', it cannot be a game bug, simple as that. It must be some local environmental difference, which I'm looking into in your files above.

It would be nice to also get the settings.txt and entire contents of the /logs/ folder from at least one of those machines too please.

Differences in operating systems result in differences in how code is ran. Is your test machine win 7 x64? Since all 3 x64 machines crashed on that save. The fact that the only thing between pre-CM and CM CK2 that changed on my machine was the fact that CM came out. Otherwise nothing else had been touched. No hardware differences, driver differences, installation path of CK2 didn't change. Method of starting CK2 didn't change. Yet i'm still plagued with CTD's that are caused by 1 specific thing ingame, and that 1 specific thing is moving troops. The game, when it crashes, only crashes when a specific levy of troops arrives at a new province. That levy will change from crash to crash, but every time i've tried to track it down. It has led to a specific troop.

It's my working machine, I don't have any test machines. Yes, it's Win7 64bit.

Yep, I just came in here to post that. I should perhaps have thought of DLCs, as the only possible difference between your and my machines that didn't change the checksum. I guess your friend with the Win8 machine owned that DLC?

brother had the african/celtic/norse packs while i didn't. after i was gifted those by another user (dracko81) the crashes went away. considering what area of the world i was playing in, and the fact that both welsh controlled and norse controlled armies have cause me to crash. the devs might want to focus into the celtic/norse packs.

We've resolved the issue now in-house and there should be more information about this coming shortly.

also have the same problem, is there going to be a fix as im not buying the unit packs, it has really annoyed me and i guess a few others, i never had a crash before CM, now in the middle of an ironman i have put hours into i cant play any more because it crashes, and it has been 6 days since you found the problem why hasnt anything come out even if it is just a bata patch as this is effecting many people?
