I'm currently having a blast playing a Manichean Ughur ruler of Khotan (or 'Altishahr'), but I'm encountering a few oddities. First and foremost, the Manichean Holy Order (something 'of Light') starts out available to hire, while there is also a decision to establish it. Secondly, Baron-tier Manichean religuous vassals don't have any special name, or at least the very common female ones don't; they're just Barons. Lastly it might be neat to give Uyghur culture the 'petty king' mechanic, seeing as playing a Duke of Qocho looks more than a little bit weird.

I'll add more if I see anything. So far it's running very smoothly, apart from this and a few issues already mentioned elsewhere (historical wars etc.) it's really better than it's ever been.

Addendum: I can't secretly convert to Taoism even though I have a Taoist holy site under my demesne (ie. what you can do with Norse if you own Zeeland). Could be a reason for that but the game isn't very clear.

Hi,

Glad you're enjoying the Uyghur! The issue with the Army of Light being available from the start is already logged in our internal database, but I'm intrigued by the Taoism issue. Do you have a save available where it happens? I know you can secretly convert if you marry a Taoist, but would be good to see what options you're seeing/not seeing with the holy sites you hold.

It's an ironman game, but it's easily repeatable; just start a game as, say, the Duke of Yutian in 869 and right-click the county shield of the county of Yutian. You won't get an option to secretly convert to either Taoism or Bön. You can secretly convert to those religions if you own other holy site counties, it just doesn't work in Yutian for some reason.

There's no Taoism version of secretly_convert_to_(RELIGION)_holy_site in mnm_secret_religious_societies_decisions.txt.

And perhaps the whole mechanic needs a rework? One decision for each religion isn't robust, and no "heretics" has them, so it's not possible to use it to convert to, say, Iconoclasm or Manichean even if they become the dominant faith.

Beat me to looking it up :) This is indeed the case- real-life Taoist holy sites are located in the offmap areas, so the ones seen in-game are not accurate for the religion.

Not at home so I can't check right now, but I think Bon also suffers from the issue.
