I’ve had the game for a couple days now and am enjoying it thoroughly, but I’ve come across 2 bugs. The first isn’t really a bug so much as bad scenario design. The fact none of your leaders start out married or with children makes your country very vulnerable to assassinations early in the game.
In my game as Rome, Carthage has been killing off my leaders constantly for months and I am now down to just a few leaders left available for the governor positions. If Carthage kills just 4 more of my leaders, I will be totally out of commanders to place as new governors. Of course he’ll keep killing off my guys, so I predict I will be totally out of commanders within a year or two in game.
Had all the starting leaders began married and with some children, then perhaps this glut of homicidal mayhem wouldn’t be so bad, but as it works now, assassinations can ruin the game.
The next bug is an actual bug, and I can’t figure out what caused it. I have two dead trade links that have stopped working and cannot be cancelled.
In the screenshot I show the link between Etruria and Massilia in the trade window, and then the two provinces themselves. As you can see, Etruria has no trade going on but its trade icon is greyed out and the pop-up states there is no internal trade link. Massilia is trading wood with Syria but has no trade with Etruria as there can be only one link.
I think what happened is the trade link was temporarily cancelled or blocked somehow during the recent war we fought with Carthage (not sure about this though) and Massilia was then somehow allowed to make a trade deal with Syria. But once the war with Carthage was ended, the two links (mine and Syria’s) try and trade with Massilia as normal, but since it can only have one link, all but the most recent link made get bugged.
After messing around some, I found I can cancel the link if I exit the game and restart (Umbria was the second bugged link and you can see it’s reassigned to a new link in the screenshot). As long as the first thing I do is cancel the link before advancing the turn (both trade items are listed in the Massilia province screen upon game restart, but one of the two goes away as soon as the time clock advances), it can be fixed. But once any time goes by, the link is locked in the greyed out state and cannot be cancelled without a reboot.
