1.04a: 2 chancellors in the court of Poland

2chanc.JPG

It's a bug, right? It's not supposed to happen and I shouldn't be able to arrange it in my court, right? It doesn't make much sense. Which chancellor's statistics are taken into account in a situation like that - I hope not both of them. Does it happen often?

You didn't fiddle with the save files ?
You didn't apply a mod ?
you have the latest patch ?

Then it's a bug all right.

Is it happening to you or the AI ?
Could you look at the ruler diplo stat and calculate if he get 2 bonus (game mechanism horror) or just one (maybe a GUI glitch).

Thanks,

Cat

No, no, and I'm on 1.04a.

AI.

If you mean the characteristics that are displayed by the king's portrait, then only the better chancellor's diplo rating is added (the king is 8 by himself, one chancellor is 7, and the other chancellor is 2 - the modified king's value is displayed as 15), although I don't know how to check if it's only displayed as 15 but actually is 17, or if it's actually 15.

Bad luck as it's close enough so a rounding error is even possible :(

Is it still the case if you save and reload ?

Yes. It doesn't go away on reloading.

And it's not a rounding error. Checking the statistics in the save file I got the following:
- King of Poland has diplo rating of 6.824 plus 1 trait bonus (Silver Tongue);
- the better chancellor has a diplo rating of 6.000 plus 1 trait bonus (Crafty Merchant)
- the worse chancellor has a diplo rating of 5.000 minus 3 for trait changes (for being Crazed, mostly).

So no rounding really. Both chancellors are created characters. The display of 15 means only the characteristic of the better chancellor seems to be added.

Aye, possible perhaps with those new events of courtiers wanting a position
No.

They don't happen to the AI and there is no effect to actually give them the position (read the FAQ ;) ).

I don't know if this is still relevant (since the patch is not the newest one anymore), but I now have a save file in which the exact same thing happened to me - two people in my court had "chancellor" displayed next to their names, although apparently only one of them was actually considered to be a chancellor. When I cancelled her title, no bonus was displayed for the monarch at all, even though the other chancellor was still displayed as such.

I don't really know how this thing happened.
