Hey, I was wondering if anyone had played HOI over a "twisted cable" ethernet link- I have a 1.5 GHZ Celeron Notebook with a 10/100 nic card- I have a friend who wants to play MUltiplayer HOI but needs to buy a an ethernet card/adaptor...? He's not sure- Anyone know anything about the optimal setup for least $...
Much obliged for any ideas.

Lan

I've played on an 100 mbit ethernet LAN. Very nice. I have also hosted an internet game with a player on my other computer. Worked very well. I even played two countries that way myself. Hectic, but double your pleasure.

I was wondering if I need to get a Hub or what? Can we connect our computers via Lan cards and play that way, kind of like the old serial connection days?

I believe it can be done

From my memories of reading the manual for one of my many hubs, I believe you can hook two computers up directly by ethernet cable, but the pins need to be reversed or something like that. I do not know how to do it.

One of the propellor heads in IT just informed me that I can do PC to PC file share over a "crossover cable" from Ethernet card to Ethernet card provided both were the same speed- just in case anyone wanted to know.:
