Hi all,

Playing CK-DV latest patch TASS, Georgia in the 1187 scenario - mostly because the situation looked really interesting then. I've been enjoying the game a great deal, but something odd happened - I had Tamar on the throne, and her husband, David Soslan, was my Marshal. (this is how the scenario starts) they're both of the Bagratuni dynasty, so I wasn't worried about their kids not being of my dynasty. But when David Soslan died, I decided to get Tamar another husband - ideally a militarily talented one. However, every time I tried to get a nice military man for a husband, my entire realm became subsumed into the realm of the liege of the husband. Eg, I tried to marry her to a courtier in a county in Bulgaria, and suddenly my entire kingdom became part of that county. Despite this, Tamar was still considered Queen of Georgia, Countess of x provinces, etc. How is this possible? Normally when I see a female ruling a territory without a husband, I try and get one of my sons over there as quickly as possible so that her children are of my dynasty. Eg when I try and marry a male to an unmarried femaile ruler, the male goes to join the female's court. However, when I, as a female ruler, try to get a male courtier over here, my queen randomly goes to join their court instead.

Also, the Mongols have come. They haven't attacked me - instead, they've swept across everything directly north of me, and they now own most of Khazaria and Rus. I don't mind havingt a strong Golden Horde in this game, but I find it boring when they own most of Europe, so I'd like to try and stop their expansion - but they have armies of 20 and 40k - how I can combat this? I've build up the Georgian kingdom so I have around 80k troops altogether, but there's no way I can afford to keep them all in arms for long enough to even try to fight off the various 20 and 40k armies the Mongols throw at me if I declare war on them. But I also don't want to just leave them to rampage over most of Europe...

Any ideas?:)

Cheers,
Stigandr.

This should only happen if you marry your female ruler to a male ruler, I have no idea why it happens when you marry a courtier.

The best way to deal with the Mongols is to conquer their provinces, beating their armies is almost impossible since there troops don't get attrition. Which means that if your 40k army is in the same province as a 40k Mongol army, your troops will disappear quickly because of attrition while the Mongol army stays the same size.

Thanks for the reply, Veldmaarschalk. The thing is, I did try to DoW the Mongols, and took a few of their provinces, but because their "free" armies aren't tied to any particular province, and because they have so many provinces, then it's impossible to get rid of their armies that way. And eventually their armies did come back to start taking over my country... I have noticed most of their armies are ostensibly from Uzens - does that mean that if I conquer Uzens, those armies disappear?

I have never actually fought the Mongols in CK ... so my advice is more what I would try to do.

It seems to be a numbers game .. not having the biggest armies, but more of them than the mongols. If they are moving 2 giant stacks around, you might have 10 stacks ... that means you should be able to take their provinces faster than they can take yours. It is a war of attrition, though not on the battlefield but in province conquests.

When the Khan dies, the empire will get split up, as he has Gravelkind inheritance law. So his sons (one can only hope he still have many living sons when he dies) will split up the empire in seperate realms. Making them more manageable.

But that is just what I have read and heard here, since I have no first hand experience with them :)
