2-player games are not boring!

Of course HOI MP is a lot of fun with up to 8 players, but as we all know, it is only entertaining if you actually can PLAY and don't have to restart, reboot or wait for missing players...

I like playing 2-player games, because you play, rather than wait.
I can imagine a lot of interesting scenarios, both cooperative or "deathmatch":

- Germany & Italy: The classic axis.
- France & UK: Holding the Maginot Line.
- France & Poland: Delaying the inevitable defeat? (try 1939!)
- Germany & UK: The classic conflict.
- Italy & Romania: The axis underdogs.
- Japan & Nat China: Quality or Quantity?
- Sweden & Finland: Scandinavian brother-in-arms.
- USSR & Yugoslavia: A Communist Alliance.
- ...

A really good two player game is Japan Vs USA, 1941 start. Starting in 41 locks you into the historical development of the two countries, gets you straight into the action and Pearl Harbour has already happened so the US is mostly on 40 strength and must repair, giving the Japanese player about 4-6 months to run riot.

Playing on a LAN is also a ton of fun. When it crashes you can easily react and restart quickly. (and communication for teasing each other is a lot better too)

Very much agree, I've had good experiences with 2-player LAN games (Germany+Italy, UK+France etc) Very stable, very enjoyable.
