A friend is planning on getting the game soon and I was wondering if we would be wasting our time trying to play a TCP game against each other using 56k modems.

There'll only be the two of us, so would it be at least playable (maybe a restart every while to get us back in sync...)?

But surely, if you can join a game on a 56k okay (as seems to be suggested both in the FAQ and from various posts on this forum) then it would be possible to host as a 56k as long as there are only two of you.

I mean, logically, the host is only sending data to one other person, so if a 56k'er can get enough data when they are not the host then they can successfully send enough data to one other player when they are the host....

Is my logic flawed somehow?

I would even say that the games that I have hosted as 56k were quite stable if they had only one other player, even if that player was on the other side of the Atlantic. This was with a speed of 1 minute=1 month (never tried faster speeds as host).

I am assuming that this was a 2 player game if you were hosting on a 56k and they weren't lagging.
