2 problems: screen blins & game freeze in an event

1. i am running HOI under win Xp with Gforce4 and 256MB. the top of my screen continously blinks while i am playing HOI. Is ther a solution to this problem? (P.S i am not running any program in the task bar but just in the background)

2. I am currently playing the USA and after i liberate france and the "liberation of france" event occurs the game freezes. Any solution?

With the blinking screen, what programs are running in the back ground? Some will still cause problems.

As for the Crash after a certain event, that would be a bug forum question.
