1) Wheneveryou cancel a tech or it is forcefully cancelled (dead team, lack of IC..) the next time you start researching it it dosen't start from 0 again but continues where it was when it stopped.

2) 'We estimate that the technology will be finished in dd-mm-yyyy'

I agree first, but disagree last. When USA researched nuclear weapon they didn't know exactly when it would ready.

Then not to include secret teches? Would be reasonable..

i hope research is not done so "systematically" like that in HOI2,

i think...

a nation's research power should be determined by 2 factors.

1. Theory (say, scientists)
2. Industrial Strength (this is obvious)

Theory:
this factor should be determined by the number of research instituted, such as universities and scientists... this factor should be to determine whether a nation could have some technology breakthrough easily,

such as , the invention of Strategic Rockets, Jet fighters, Atomic research ... i am sure that no matter how hard Nepal try she could never have some progress in thinking about a jet plane.

Industrial Power:
it's very obvious that Industrial Power affects research a lot, such as the research of Atomic Bombs, Rockets, or Maus Heavy Tank... One might have some drawings of very advanced stuffs but he could never produce one to test it...

to prevent tech rush, we should abandon the selection to research discrete tech items, say, one should give orders to his Nation's research institute to research, tanks... artillery...

Errr... isn't it already?

Industrial strength determines the number of Tech slots (simultaneous projects), Research capability determines the skills and component-matches of the tech teams.

Why prevent tech rush? Weren't some nations ahead of others in certain fields, and behind them in other fields?

I think there should be no "we estimate" whatsoever in the game. Keeps the unpredictability of the research still in.

That way you cant start a 1948 tech in 1944, just to see how long it will take. If its too long, then just go on to a different one. No, keep it the way it is.
