Granting count title as a Duke, and not getting the count as a vassal

I'm playing the Duke of Österreich, and I took three provinces from the tribe of Mecklenburg (Rostock, Mecklenburg and Werle). Then I granted my second son the title Count of Rostock, and assumed he would become one of my vassals. However, he became an independent count instead. Not even part of the Kingdom of Germany (as I am). And I don't even get a claim on Rostock! Seems like a bug to me...

Edit: This is with CK 1.02

Or it seems when you are at war with anybody then the count won't be your vassal. That is a reported bug, so if that's the case this could be closed. Please let us know.

Yeah i've seen it too.
If I appoint my son (any son) to count during a war (on the newly taken territory) he dont become a vassal. However if I appoint any other (happy hour at the court) they do become vassal! - even during war and on newly taken territory.

I can't remember if I granted him the title before or after the war was finished. Sorry.

I just loaded the autosave which is right before I granted the title, and tried to reproduce it, but I couldn't. I tried granting him the title both before and after the war, but he correctly became my vassal in both cases. I will try a couple of times more, and if I'm able to reproduce it I'll let you know.
