I'm having a problem with my copy of Vicky. After installing .3b and VIP .2b, I keep getting an "unknown string wanted" message. I'm trying to install a second copy on my hard drive to see if something just corrupted that game or what. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice, but that still doesn't work. The only thing I can think of is that I installed a different color file for the computer and it started happening after that.

Anyway, anyone have any tips to install a second copy?

Unfortunately we do not support user made mods, please ask the authors of that mod for assistance.

I was just asking if there's any way I can install a second copy of Vicky (non-mod) on my computer.

Not by using the installation program, but you can simply copy/paste your Vicky directory to a different location.

That would give you a copy with the same mods though.

I suppose you could then uninstall the original and do a fesh install from CD then patch without mods.

Ah yes, that was what I wa sthinking about.

I alway maintain a "clean" Vicky with just official patches installed, then I make copies whenever I want to mod or test something.

Wise move my friend. :)

OK. I figured it out. I guess I was in a hurry and installed patches in the wrong order or something. When I uninstalled Vicky, it wasn't taking everything off of my computer. I had to manually delete everything (after keeping my saved games, of course) and then reinstall. I was careful to install 1.03 and then 1.03b and then I made a mistake and installed VIP0.2b before 0.2 (watching watching) which caused the game to crash. I went back and installed VIP0.2, though, and everything looks fine now.

I blame the little goblins that live in my computer. Anyway, I just wanted to post in case someone else had a similar problem.

I blame the voices in my head. They can be quite convincing at times.
