Multiplayer CTDs

FYI, I've been playing version 1.02 over a local area network, with my friend hosting the game. I haven't been able to play more than an hour before I get a CTD. As far as I can tell, nothing in particular seems to trigger the CTD.
Don't know if other have had problems with multiplayer stability, but I thought I'd mention it.

Could you tell us if any of you try to use the F2 key in multiplayer when it CTDs ?

That would be a known bug, only happening in MP.

Thanks, :)

Cat,

No, none of the CTDs were related to the F2 key. It mostly seems to be when I'm navigating event screens or the "dynasty" screen (not sure what it's really called, but it's the one showing all the members of your family and court).

The text from my original text disappeared (probably when I tried to edit it), so, just to be thorough, I always get a CTD in multiplayer after an hour or so. I'm using a new game in 1.02 via LAN, with my friend as the host. I can provide my computer specs if you need them.

Thanks.

I have the same problem. But I can't state that it happens very regular.
It seems like the games are running asynchonous.

While (I am the host) the other player has about 20 soldiers in his province after disbanding them he has about 500 on his computer displayed. If he tries to mobilize them the game crashes (on his computer).
And all names of persons are different on the different machines. *sigh*

that could be due to lag, though.

If you would be able to supply more info regarding exactly what causes thecrash I would be very grateful.:)

I can't offer more details since I do not even have an idea what that is about. It even crashes while the game is paused (and the client is not even touching the keyboard/mouse) so I would state that it is not due to lag (even if one of the clients has 10Mbit only). But it happens quite regulary. Next time playing I will note down the interval of crashes. ;)
But since 1.02 only the clients (not the host) have CTDs.

What other info could be helpful?

well, the info I was looking for was if you had managed to narrow it down even further.

What happens if you and the client turn off all obackground programs like antivirus and firewall, ICQ etc. ?

No other program running in the background on neither PC. Host is a 2,4Ghz and client has 1Ghz if that information is helpful (each has 512MB RAM).

I will see how long it takes till it crahes and if any special effect happens (even if it's hard to find out if it crashes ;) ) when I get to play it again. Perhaps tonight.

Any news ?
