My enemy is demoted and becomes my vassal, but we're still at war

This one is wierd. I, as the Roman Empire, declare war on the Emir of Cadiz, who has a demesne of 5 provinces (Cadiz, Empuries, Malaga, Sevilla and Algeciras) and no vassals. I capture Algeciras and Cadiz while fighting holding actions in Aracena and Almeria. As soon as I captured Cadiz, there is no more Emirate of Cadiz. The remaining provinces are ruled by the Sheik of Malaga, who suddenly is my vassal, though I'm still at war with him. I revoke the title of Sheik of Malaga, he accepts, and suddenly he's independent again.

Hmmmm interesting....

If I understand correctly the Sheik of Malage did only excist after you captured Cadiz?

Anyone else seeing any of the following things:

1 Muslim realms falling appart when court province is captured.

2 Gaining a muslim ruler as vassal when defeating the ruler that held territory of this vassal.

3 Being at war with someone that is still your vassal.

4 Revoking someones title and he gets independance when he accepts.

Was the problem that you couldn't at all propose him peace ?

If yes, this has been fixed in 1.03 :)

I didn't even try to propose peace, and the problem was more complex than that, and may be difficult to duplicate.

1) The Emir lost the duke-level title when I captured his capital.
2) The (now) Sheik became my vassal when he lost his duke-level title.
3) The Sheik became independent again when I revoked his primary title.

This following sequence of events had some resemblance to my original report:

I was playing an ICOCK campaign, starting as Count of Alexandretta, building up to Prince of Antioch and (eventually) Emperor. I set up my son and heir as Prince of Georgia and Antioch, turning over most of my Count vassals to him as a result, including the Count of Taron (? I think that's the name, starts with a T, just north of Hedjaz) and Foggia. This latter count got into a war with the three-county Sheik of Mecca, and both my son and I rallied to his support. I got my troops in the area before my son or the count's Foggia regiment, but before my troops were concentrated in a neighboring county, Taron was captured and a new sheikdom, vassal to the Sheik of Mecca was set up in it. (That's right, a sheik vassal to a sheik, not an independent sheikdom; I think the Sheik of Mecca was underage, so couldn't be seige leader, which is why it didn't become a demesne province of Mecca.) I went on to take all the demesne of the Sheik of Mecca, and when I captured the last county (Mecca), the Sheik of Taron became my vassal, for the short time before I revoked his title.
