Hey everybody! I'm having a hard time getting something into the game, even as a test.

Here's my model, setup in 3d studio max with all the unit settings done as instructed:

As you can see, it's a pretty big building, and super rough...I'm just trying to get the export settings correct to make sure I'm building it to the right scale and all that. My home grid is set to 1.0 meters, so the first floor should be a little over 3 meters high...

WHAT IS THIS?! A BUILDING FOR ANTS?!

I tried scaling it up some in Max, 1 unit = 100 meters, same thing happens.
I've tried a few different bases, including things like the expo hall and stuff like that.
I tried a simple 16mx8m box, and that came in just as super duper tiny.

Any advice?

can't you scale up in 3ds max and then freeze the scale so it stands at one again?

I'm working in maya and usually i have to scale things and then freeze it all so it imports properly.

Scaling things up in the asset editor sadly destroys the LoD Texture

Solution test it :)

Don't know if it helps but you could do two things to get your models imported 1:1 scale to Cities Skylines, i figured it out the other day based on a working model i have.

So basically you can use a custom unit like i'm using, or tweak the scale, because a 12x12 tiles is around 96x96 meters. but inside 3ds max you would have to make a cube measuring 9600m x 9600m.

So option one

Use the custom unit option and set it to 100 = Meters
(i call them SKm = Skyline meters hehe :) )

Option Two

In unit Setup> open System unit Setup and simply set 1unit = 0.01 meters

With that set up like that, your fbx will export to a 1 scale and use the real space.

hope it helps anyone :)

So, I finally got around to fiddling with it, and for me...I set the metric units to 0.01, but only had to set my custom unit to = 1 meter, not 100, and now it's working perfectly without having to scale anything in editor. Still, I would have been lost without your info, thanks again TK :D
