repeated (endless?) AI war-peace cycle

Case:
AI nation makes peace with other AI nation,
just to redeclare war within a few days.
This happend 5 times in a row before I ended the game
(the AI nation on the wrong end of the hammer was my liege -
which I had surrendered control of my army to  )

I reloaded the game and witnessed another peace/instant war seqence.

Was the AI nation that had war declared on it in a war with one of the declarer's vassals? That's happened to me before, and would be WAD I believe.

Just checked, and you are ofcourse correct.

That being said, this leads to some highly undesireable results;
in the game that lead me to this post, Mighty AI England is caught in
a desire to aid its one-province AI vassal count, in it war against an independent one-province AI dutchy.
England has no claim on said duchy, however with its valiant 1500-3000 army assistance to íts tiny vassal, it has no problem conquring the duchy. Consequently it concludes peace with the duchy, and as previously stated proptly redeclares war on the duchy.

I don't know the exact implications on badboy and prestige for this sort of action (England seldom manage to remove its armies before war is redeclared), an obviout result is that Englands prestige is around -1100 only some 10-20 years into the 1066 scenario.

Additionally it seems quite undesireably that a number of AI nations is caught in a seemingly neverending war.

To make a long story short:
It might be WAD that a liege assists its vassals, however measure must (IMHO) be taken to alleviate war-peace cycles.

Not sure if it will make it into 1.03, but there have been requests for joint peaces offers (as in EU). The Mods and Betas have been silent on the subject, but they have heard our cry!

I have just noticed this in this one game, however that is not that same as it hasn't happend before (or since), the reason that I noticed was that the dutchy was my liege. Still it practically broke that game for me, so I will allow myself to give some suggestions how to "fix" the problem.

If the AI liege dosen't hold a claim on a "house" it has entered war with to aid a vassal - either:
1) Do not conclude peace before your vassals have made peace.
2) Fight a defensive war.

Hmm I had other suggestions before starting this post, now they are all gone.
Let that be a leason to all underaged: don't drink and drive, or what ever. :eek:o

I will edit in my other suggestions once I sober up.

Edit: started this post waaaay before I finished it, and hence didn't see CaBhaals post

A lot of changes will happen in 1.03, but I will log it anyway ;)
