I have just built a new Pc with a 64 bit athlon and i cant get HOI2 to install.

The errror produced is 0x80040801

It is standard HOI2 out of the box

Windows XP SP1 1

DIRECT x 9

And that is all

is there a link with useful hints or specific error codes?

Or anyone have an idea?

Well I would update windows first.

64 it works fine

I am playing HOI2 on windows XP 64 bit edition, it works just fine. But the bink video player have crashed one or two times.

I just got a my AMD64 X2 3800+ computer. The driver on the motherboard installation CD for the embedded sound system was buggy (nForce4 chipset) . It caused civ4 to crash randomly. The problems dissapeared when I got a fresh driver from the nVidea site. I havent tried HOI2 with the buggy sound driver. Before that, my computer would sometimes crash and reboot when civ4 tried to play a sound.

HOI2 works fine without setting the cpu affinity to 1 cpu. (This is a known workaround for buggy multithreaded programs)

XP 64 bit edition does not have a SP2 yet. 64bit XP shares the codebase with 2003server and it dont follow the XP service pack numbers.

He made no mention of having the 64bit version. ;)

It is only the Download version that has a problem with 64 Bit.

The Download guys are working on it, something to do with their Copy protection would be the logical assumption.

Interesting, thanks for updating us.
