Perhaps a BB-Bug

Yesterday I worked the whole day to figure out how BB works exactly. And by doing that I find something mysterious. Every month the lowering of BB depends on the piety. OK I kow that.

Well, so why happen the following:
On December 28. 1095 I had a BB of 2.322 and on January 2. 1096 I have suddenly a BB of only 1.15. During this days there where no events or messages. My Piety was only 279 so it could not come from there. I repeated that noumerous times. Its always the same.

In the following Year during the change of Years, BB worked normal again. For example 3.136 (December) to 3.12 (January) by Piety again around 280.

An then in the next Year the same happen again. During New Year my BB decreased about -1.

I looked for similarities of conditions when this things happens and I only found one thing:
In both Years I was at war during the change of the Year.

Could it be that war lowers BB?
Any explaination what happens?
WAD or BUG?

I think your Chancellor can have an effect on BB. Better diplo rating = less BB.

I'm not sure on this, though...

I usually monitor my BB reduction rather closely, by looking at my loyalty penalty from reputation. It does not seem to go down smoothly, but can sometimes stay at the same value for quite a while, then suddenly go down rather quickly. I tried to correlate that with my piety, and there is no doubt that, on the long term, more piety means faster BB reduction, but over a few month or even a few year, it seems rather uneven.

I am know wondering whether the BB reduction might be treated like the event : there is an average time for it to go down by a fixed amount, depending on piety, but the moment it goes down itself is random. I wonder if one of the programmers might comment on that thought ?

- Badboy decay factor is now completely depending on your piety. 1000 piety = 1 badboy lost in one year.

Addition:

The next years BB decrease worked normal again even when I was at war during the Change of a Year. (But I stopped looking every Year in my savegame)

I have a savegame, where this phenomenon can be repeated.
If its a bug, than its minor.

Oh and I was not leaving claims when things happen, which also reduce BB by -1 per Claim.

I know this is a rather mysterious issue - but is there a bug? I like the research going on, and depending on my co-mods perhaps we can keep this in this forum so it won't get lost in the GD and such.

I'll grant my indulgence for the moment...

[btw, I need to go back and experiment with diplo ratings - I did see what I thought to be a factor in your total diplo rating (meaning your Chancellor can have a profound effect) - but then, it may have been a coincidence as Tremane mentions that changes are not smooth]

If you find any results by experimenting, please let us know. But I fear that interesting posts/informations are in General Disscussion on page three in no time.
:(

Perhaps it would be wise to create a "Community Investigation" subforum in which such posts could be moved (and kept clean)? The GD is starting to heat up so alot of things really passes you by..

I haven't tested, but have observed, and now doubt the diplo rating thing. However, a test would be a good idea.

FrEDa, I suppose this is that forum, and keeping "investigation" threads open is a good idea.
