Hello everyone! I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I wanted to test the waters to see if anyone was interested in my work here. I posted about this in the r/battletechmods subreddit with little fanfare, but I figured there may be a larger response here.
This began as a project to marry GT's Weapons Diversity mod with RogueTech and my own balance tweaks, but it's since ballooned into an overhaul of how weapon upgrades work.
It's more an exercise in modding volume versus modding skill (just fussing about with .json's), but I've tried to granularize/systematize how weapon upgrades work -- specifically, every manufacturer for the non-lostech weapons will have a -, - +, +, ++, and +++ model, and have a consistent way in which the upgrades are applied. There's also some accompanying shop .json's that will add most of the variants to the vanilla game using modtek.
This has been done before, I believe, but not in such volume. I've got...maybe 900-1000 different weapon variants as outlined in the below google doc. It's not strictly completed, just the detail work needs done yet. I'm still fussing with heat damage values to make PPCs and Flamers more balanced, and making the Pirate/Industrial Roguetech stuff less combat competitive, and making the lostech stuff slightly more competitive.

I've also tried to balance the weapons and upgrades against each other using a "Quality #", that attempts to take pretty much every variable into account in some shape or form. That's a whooooole 'nother discussion as to whether I've done it right or not.
My next step is to fine tune some of the lore on the weapons to make manufacturer's consistent between different weapons, maybe to add different ammo types.
My question then, would anyone be interested in a public release of this? Here's a google doc of what I have compiled so far (just a quick and dirty zip, consider it version 0.0000001a lol). As far as I can tell, it works in vanilla, and works in roguetech for me if you just replace the contents of the RoguetechWeaponBalance folder. (just make a backup of whatever you save because I don't want to give LadyAlekto more headaches than she already has)
