Please look in this screnie, as you can see Smyrna is an empty province... I have no idea how that happened or when

Uncontrolled province after death of last ruler

I think a found a nasty bug.

After one of my vassal died, his land stayed 'barren', with no new lord. I didn't get the title back, nor got the province as another home domain.

When I click on it, the province 'shield' is empty except for France flag on the above. I can't see the army, the buildings, etc...

Checking the save-game, I found it out : province 131 ("Sens")
The title C131 was 'vacant' : it had an 'end-date'

Noone got the title C131 and province 131 was on no other land.

I corrected the problem by grabing C131 title for myself and adding province 131 to my home domains...

Still it's sad that when the last inheritor of a domain dies, the land just turns non-fonctionnal...

(The problem is that some tags have 'no color' as color, so they look 'empty'. Rest assured, someone owns it, maybe one of the moldovand at the black sea with the same 'color' on their provinces..)

This happens sometimes, but click again on the province. You will see it's owned by someone!

...or it could be the know bug where some provinces fall out and have no rulers.

Province without an owner

In my current game in the year 1120 I realized that the province nassau (id 121) has no owner. When I click on it neither the province screen nor the ruler screen is shown.

Here is the part of the save game, which defines the title count of nassau.

I've seen the same happen to a province in Scandinavia. Don't have the save though.

I have several a game with the same problem in two separate counties. In 1175 both counties existed and had rulers, one a single-county count and the other was ruled from elsewhere. In 1177 one of the counties was totally blank (the fort still can be seen on the map, but it cannot be clicked on). In a later save game, the second county went blank. I can tell more about the second one, because I saved more frequently at the time. In one save game, the home county of a two county demesne was under the control of an opponent who was at war with the county's owner. In the next save game both counties were under the control of that opponent. In the third save game the first county had become the property of the opponent, taken as spoils of war. However the second county had disappeared. No owner comes up when you put your curson on the county and it is not at all clickable. I can send the save files to anyone who would find it helpful.
