You know, you can adjust brightness and gamma manually, either via your monitor, or your graphic card software.

With NVidia you can even save those adjustments as presets for each game.

I don't see the issue here.

That is not the way colors work on a display, if you do that then you will wash out all of the whites or any other bright colors on the screen. My monitor itself has quick settings buttons for different scenarios like that where you can customize settings (3 of them) but it wouldn't help in this case. straining your eyes to look for information that is a muted color on top of another muted color is a problem, it is also a problem to strain your eyes to try and read information that is far too bright.

Also because you do not see the issue, does not mean there is not one, so don't reply.

Fortunately it can be modded.

I like them as they look now, giving a bit of a darker and gloomier feeling.
After all, WWII wasn't a day at the fair...

Agreed. I think it's more true to the feel of the times. I mean it's basically the great depression followed by the great war part II. Not the happiest of things! lol

If you look at the latest screenshots, I'm pretty sure they improved the gamma. It's especially obvious with the flags (which I think were reworked from scratch), but I think the map looks much more green and much less grey now. I'm actually quite happy with it now.

I must confess I don't quite get the 'grey makes it seem more like WWII' line of thinking. If anything some kind of sepia/tan shading (think 60-year-old paper) would look more authentic to the period.

I prefer gray to brown, though. Gray gives the feeling that you are in a concrete bunker planning to conquer the world. Brown gives the feeling that... you are walking in a Autumn forest that has been completely stripped from leaves. (Yes, I know, surprisingly few trees are actually brown)

I'm colourblind, and as it stands its an awful visual for me, You think YOU have difficulties differentiating countries! :p

I'm sure it is easily moddable though, like all Paradox games, so I don't have a massive issue :)
Same here.
I was horrified when I saw the Balkans and Norway / Sweden. No difference with the colors atall :D
Had the same color issue on HoI 2, but not with countries bordering each other in the begin with.

Have to start modding rightaway ^^

Just wait for the handdrawn mod to be released like in EU 3.
What irks me more are the stripes, not sure they can be modded out.

Rest assurred that the map colours will be easily moddable.

I'd like that on a paper and signed by the Paradox staff. Moddability is what will make or break HOIII in my opinion :)

I only played EU for a week than got bored/erased. Was it moddable in EU 3 ? Because I literally HATED that feature. Having %70 of your territory stripy would suck when playing as Germany.

The colors annoyed me too. As one poster mentioned, Grey gives you the feeling you are in the Reichstag or something and conquering the world. The colors actually helped me cope the tens of hours of non-stop gaming. They were bright and shiny. These are, well, depressing. I see this game as a tactical challenge not a depressing strategy where people dies in combat, bombs fall, tanks blitz. They are just numbers and this is a game, not a real life simulation.

Personnally I much prefer the nice and bright colours of HOI2, slightly worried about this boring and grey looking colour scheme. :(

It wouldn't be PC for the developers to address the color issue in a WWII game, IMO.

I am not quite sure why you think it wouldn't be PC, we went for these colours for a reason. They give us the feel we are after.

what do you mean?

I think he got confused as you surely meant "reason" and not "season" in your earlier post

Or, he could just be a troll :)
