Greetings everyone!
My name is Daniel and I am in charge of writing the Narrative and Setting of this game. This week I was asked to come here and talk a bit about that so you would have a greater understanding of what is going on with those dwarves.
The dwarves live on a continent called 'Vanaheim', under the governing rule of King Father, father of all dwarves. When the game begins, the dwarves live a peaceful life in their homeland, Hemland. But long ago, back in the day, the dwarfen kingdom stretched over, and under, every land in Vanaheim. They had built marvelous structures and artefacts that no other race could hope to match. Their buildings stretched as far up in the sky that they touched the clouds, and as deep down into the ground where any water is colder than ice and all the rocks are harder than granite.
Their days of glory were cut short by a mysterious tall people that came from the unknown lands of the north. These people wielded powerful energies called magic. They soon declared themselves hostile and attacked the dwarfen kingdom. What the dwarfs had in numbers, the so-called mages had in sheer power.
Many battles were fought and finally it was concluded that the remaining dwarves and mages were equally strong. So the dwarfs came up with a plan to gain the upper hand. They dug deeper than ever before in search of a legendary mineral that would make their weapons an unstoppable force and their armour an immovable object. But what they found, deep deep down under the highest mountains, was something else. Something dark.
No one now knows what happened. But the tunnels that the dwarves had built to get as deep down as they could collapsed and every dwarf down there was never heard from again. This had the opposite effect of what the dwarves had hoped for. Now the mages got the upper hand and the dwarfs were driven back to their homeland. There they prepared for their final stand. But the mages did not follow them.
Slowly but surely the dwarfs recovered, and started to rebuild their homes. Since that time they have lived isolated in Hemland and have not heard anything about what is going on around them. They have begun to get a decent amount of numbers and resources to reclaim some of what was once taken from them.
If only they now had a Clan Leader that could take them to victory and answers...
Alright, that was it for today! Next week Thorwaldsson will be back to answer some of your questions and more. I hope this will have made you happy for now and that you look forward to the game.
Thank you for your time and live well
//Daniel
