Edit: On a side note, do you ever get a PM box that can hold more than 30 messages? I'm thinking that might fill up pretty quick.
No, and yes :p

Solution is to DL pms once in a while, ;)

I usually record the night's orders on excell or word and delete the PMs.

I game info in a txt file, but theres really no substitute for having a backup of the actual orders. GMs sometimes write down incorrectly, its sad and should be avoided, but it happens. In that case, or in the case a player suspects a GM mistake, then original PMs are invaluble in figuring out what happens. You really shouldn't delete those PMs, theres nothing gained from not having them on your PC for the duration of the game.

I meant from the PM box. I download them as well and save them in a folder, and label them Night 2, Night 3 etc...

You can also recieve them as e-mail. If you tick the box saying something like "recieve e-mail notification of PM's" you will get an e-mail everytime you get a PM and in that mail is the actual message. It's than only a case of setting up a filter so that all your PM-notify e-mails go into a seperate folder from the rest of your mail. Your PM inbox will still fill up as fast, but now you can just delete since you will have a backup in the form of e-mail. :)

I did not know that, of course I didn't know unil a few weeks ago that you could download them either.

Just don't forget to empty your inbox now and then, since if it's full you can't recieve PM's and thus can't recieve PM-notify mails ;)

Yes, next time I GM, i will change the way I handle PMs. And improve on my excel system for recording matters(so I do not mix up wolves etc :p)

I believe this discussion is going off-topic now.

@Slinky : When do we get your next installment of the "Romance of the three Kingsoms XI AAR" ? ;)

This is a general GMing discussion thread, I don't see how this is off topic.

Agreed, lots of useful order PM handling tips in there. I had no idea you could get PMs as emails or even download them. (I usually delete received PMs after after I have effectuated the scan/protection/hunt orders and delete sent PMs after I've seen they have been read. That way I'm never really close to 30 PMs anyway. Interesting PMs I want to save for the GM AAR I usually just manually save in a text file.)

I guess I will need to break out the ol' flash drive to put all the PM's on then. Notepad ++ makes them super easy on the eyes, so I should be pretty mistake free. *Knock on wood*

Edit: Now on to something completely different, what is the "rule" regarding the last GM? I've heard it mentioned a few times about the last GM getting an automatic spot in the new game, is that how it is?

Isn't that a Lite thing only? (Since there is no upper limit on player numbers in a big game why reserve a spot?)

Size of the PM box is bit annoying, I remember once when I was GMing I had to extend the deadline, because one player had spammed my PM inbox full and others couldn't get their orders through.

I had room for 20 messages when I went to uni at the morning and at the evening my inbox was full and I had more than 10 notifications in my e-mail that people had tried to get their orders through. 15 of the messages I got during the day were from one player, whom I shall not name here. I think that there's no need to constantly send messages to GM, even if you have question etc. Sending same question or demand that GM answers to the question right now in every 30 minutes (especially if GM has been offline the whole time) is not recommendable and it really affected to the game. If I ever write new set of WW rules I add clause to the rules that spamming the GM with PMs is forbidden.

Can this thread be bumped / made sticky?

I just wanted to ask in a 30-player game how do you guys do the setup? Like how many of each roles are there usually and how do you distribute the common traits? I know each GM has is own set of player setup, how do you do yours?
