Doesn't matter now. They're probably going to have an uber economy in Victoria 2, with all those rich, populous provinces.
Assuming their tech is high enough to make the civilized threshold. Otherwise they will be spending a good bit of time just getting up to civilized before they magically spring to life. In fact, if their tech levels are what I think they are, they should fall somewhere between partially westernized and mostly civilized (45-75% complete or so). A lot can happen in those formative years.

Tech level doesn't matter in the civilization level in the converter as far as i know.Western and Eastern technology groups become civilized, all others do not AFAIK.

Things going for Byzantium in Victoria 2:
1. (I think) Owns the canal zone.
2. Tech will equal out.
3. No inflation.
4. Rich land.
5. Lots of people.
6. Good spot for getting a slice of Africa.
7. Oil, later on.
8. Lots of small, weak neighbors, some uncivilized.

I can say with certainty that is most definitely not the case, unless the Ottoman tech group is included in the "civilized" grouping. I had a non-westernized ottoman game where I led in tech and they converted as civilized, plus I had the most unlocked techs to boot. Now I just have to try that with an un-Westernized Muslim nation to see if I'm right...

he is saying that you should go into the console, change the tag as frankfurt (tag FRA) and annex Saxony (annex SAX).

The power was finally turned on today, so I'm back in my apartment. I suppose I shouldn't complain since I didn't lose anything but the food in my fridge/freezer, unlike a lot of people. The thread's been busy while I've been away. Sorry, if I missed responding to any questions.

@Cback, I will upload the 1821 save after the AAR is completed, which should be within the next few days. I would like some additional maps (religion, culture, at least). Thanks.

Welcome back! We missed you :)
Other than my previous question regarding Sibir I am also curious on how exactly Norway became a member of the HRE in the first place. Actually I would love to see another full update on the HRE and it's member/elector nations when you post all the global maps and data.
Keep up the great work. Your awesome.

Sibir is majority German but has sizable Tartar, Mongol and Swedish minorities as well. As to Norway, I don't think you have to be a member of the HRE to be elected Emperor.

Maybe, but if I don't misremember you become a member once you accept the crown. Might be wrong though?

No, you're correct, I checked and Norway has now become an HRE member, but it joined the Empire through the election, not beforehand. Actually, I think Bohemia also joined the HRE only when elected.
