For a frame of reference, in CK2 France ruled England and parts of Spain, and looked to be the Big Blue Blob.

I liked the Vlaanderen France. Its a shame to see it fall.

I can't wait for the update on the Byzantium-Timur war. This is the first time I am cheering for Byzantium in an AAR (Since their so popular I generally hate them, but I loved the story of their fall (where most of Turkey was Fatimid) and rise (where they became the power they are right now) in CKII, that I can't help but route for them.

I am cheering for the Mali because lets face it, who doesn't want to see the Mali kick the Europeans out of Africa?

Wow. Its not often you see such a huge shift in power. I can't say I'm too sorry to see the BBB dissolve, because it was looking like they were just going to dominate Europe in CKII. I can't wait to see who takes their place, Berry I don't see too often.

Also, It looks like Austria annexed Genoa, and Frankfurt is winning a war against Bohemia? Looking forward to the next update. Also, has anyone started colonizing yet? Looks like France won't be doing any.

The final map in the last section is from 1586, so technically the New World has just been discovered. However, I only took the last section so far because the fall of France was already visible on the 1518 maps and with the neverending war, there was no natural break to end it with. My next few updates will be in the 1520-1560 range, so I won't be describing the discovery of the New World for a while.

The BBB was generally a bigger problem in earlier versions of EU3 than DW 5.1.

I woudldn't know because the only time I played EU3 without DW was as England, and Henry V won the 100 years war for me.

Since I have only actually played 4 different EU3 games, I have actually never seen the BBB

I was inspired to run a handsoff CK2 because of this (or at least the first half of it) and man it was dull. I think you deserve a lot of credit for making this a very interesting read. I m also very impressed with the regional updates which are done in both an interesting and intuitive manner. I really look forward to future updates.

I've done a few hands off ones (none of them AARs) and I normally quit them when something happens that I didn't want to happen:
CK2s BBB (Big Byzantium Blob), Holy Roman Empire manages to incorporate Hungary, Poland etc, Golden Horde loses their war too Bulgar or Cuman (I'm a huge fan of the Mongols, for their promotion of religious tolerance, free trade, decentralization and state rights), France takes full control of Spain, etc.

I actually enjoy hands off games and seeing how they turn out. My longest hands off game saw me quit in 1267 (just over 200 years into the game)

I played 2 hands off games in Vicky 2 from start of the game to the end of the game, Starting as some Cambodia and switching over to Luxembourg or Krakow as soon as I become westernized (which was in the 1910s or 1920s so I didn't exactly play as Europeans for long.

My current hands off one I am really tempted to quit because 2 things that I didn't want to happen happened, but the cluster **** in England has just been too exciting. It was only 20 years ago that in game that I noticed how large France was cause I was just zoomed in on England watching the warring states.

England have 27 different kings from 7 different dynasties since the start of the game has been too exciting not to watch. 200 years of civil war and no end in sight.

I don't, but that's just because when a religion is really on the ropes in a game like this I root for it to die, just because it's amusing. And Mansa Musa earned my ire over many games of Civilization.

Mansa is cool, he always trades with you (even if you've just roflstomped him) and has no WFYABTA limit either, two unique properties in the game.

Just because he is the AI who is made out of the most win, don't hate him. Try living next to Sitting Bull for a whole game, "your water supply in X has been poisoned" every turn for eternity, an utterly useless but also extremely annoying tactic.

Or worse, do what Mad Scientist from CFC once did, and play as Monty against fifteen other Montys. Worse, as he's somewhat colourblind, he sometimes did not know which [strike]Monty[/strike] Montys had just declared on him.

Yeah, I have no knowledge of history of west africa, so was Mansu Musa a really really friendly leader, or is he just that way in the game for unknown reasons.

But yeah, Musa was always a good ally, especially when it came to WFYABTA

He is said to have been so generous giving away gold while visiting Egypt and Arabia that he caused massive inflation and crashed the economy.
