At a random point, a mass amount (about 40) prisoners died at the exact same time, I couldn't find their bodies anywhere in the prison, I also did not receive their gravestones. A few hours later I found them in the top left corner of the map. I tried sending guards there to see if they would collect the corpses, but they just stood there, completely ignoring them. When I tried to expand the map, the bodies still remained in the corner. Periodically, a hearse shows up as if it is trying to pick up the dead prisoners, but nobody brings them to it.

Just had this happen to me, I think these guys were part of the random event where I had to take on prisoners from another facility. Did not see them stuck up there till they started dying. Had noticed just before they started to die, guards queuing up to get them but getting stuck and pissed off. Tried to buy the land to get them no go they just move out to the new corner. No mods have all the DLC but Islands. Me thinks this last hot fix screwed up the game.
 
Looks to me like there may be two issues here - multiple prisoners dying at once, and their bodies getting allocated a location of 0,0 instead of wherever they actually died.

Have these two issues always happened at once? That is, has anyone seen the second issue without getting the first issue?

And are these in prisons started since The Rock patch, or earlier than that?
 
It was after the Rock Patch, for me I got the random event where I took in a lot of prisoners in from another. I thought I had absorbed them all in to my prison, played for a bit then noticed my guards starting not to do anything. I took a look, and they are trying to escort prisoners to cells. After trying to reset them I fired everyone and rehired. Play for a bit more and noticed the same issue happened again. It was getting late so I called it a night and saved the game. I started up the game the next day and guards where still trying to escort. While I was trying to figure out what was happening, that is when prisoners starting dying off in mass (Starvation). That is when I finally notice them stuck up there in the corner. So they were up there for some time before they started to die off.

I do not have the Rock DLC so I was playing on a normal map, with Cleared For Transfer and Psych Ward enabled. No mods installed.

I got the same problem and finally just found a workaround.
Open for editing your prison save file ( yourprisonname.prison ) and make a backup of it before editing (just in case)
Find all block line refering to those prisonners stuck at the top left corner and delete them
You can find them easilly because there are the only prisonnes that don't have posX and posY attributes and also in my case has DeathType with Starvation
After deleting all of them, save the file and load it in game

PS: if you want to keep them instead of deleting (if there are still alive probably), I'm pretty sure you can just add to these prisonner the missing attributes
PosX and PosY (but I didn't tried it)
 
Yep that worked, tedious but worked. There is another problem maybe related to this bug? I have a prisoners ready to transfer but says I have no available cells even though I do. I seem to be minus cells? As you can see the numbers are not adding up.

Thanks very much all! Great work.

I've now logged a new bug report on this, linked to this thread, and escalated it to Paradox management. Quite how that will be handled in the current shutdown I can't say, I'll try to check on it later this week.

Sorry for that problem!
 
I can confirm the workaround:
Edit the savegame and find the prisoners without PosX and PosY, add them manually. Save and load the file and it will work. Then you have to move the stucked guards manually and they can escort them.

I think the issue came with the random event, that i have to pick prisoners from another prison.
 
Notepad can do it but Notepad++ is better.
 
Dont delete it, that can make another issues cause of the open tasks that cant be done. But anyways it seems you did something wrong.
Better add PosX and PosY to the prisoners without.

After doing that i recommend to deactive the random events until there is a patch for it.

I cannot give ETAs for patches, I am sorry. I doubt it will come out in its own dedicated patch, most likely it will be rolled into the next one that was scheduled anyway.
