Hi, so this guide is my tips and tricks for end-game conquests (mostly one-tag wc). I've seen endless posts about 'can I do wc before 1821?' here forum or reddit. I write a compact guide on how end-game conquest looks like so that those who are trying wc first time can finish wc before 1821 and do not miss wc opportunity.

First, the campaign I used for this guide is on 1.21 patch, all dlc but MN. I did a full 1.22 TR campaign and most part still hold true.

Second, this is not how to blob in early-mid game. It is country specific so it really varies.

Third, I am not that veteran like those who did wc +10 times. But I found end-game conquests are similar after did wc three times. So my tips and tricks can be improved by more-experienced players.

Table of contents.

1. Deploying forces before war - A typical war example

2. Truce timer / coalition management

3. Bordergore for easier next war - Hungary/Russia example

4. Multifront war - Portugal Example

5. Can I do wc? Coring table here!

1. Deploying forces before war - A typical war example.

It's 1 Jan 1743. As you see, French war is over September 1742. During 3 months, I redeployed my forces for the next war.

YItiBft.jpg

Watch army/navy tab in ledge(hotkey L), look at fort map mode to determine how many forces are needed on each front. GBR had 70k + few fort so 160k.

KI6wqwr.jpg

GBR's ally Canada had 60k armies but many forts. So 240k.

3gcEBUU.jpg

Always DOW after deploying forces and on 1st of each month.

mRN5UWy.jpg

Particularly, if you have a province next to enemy's capital. Prepare enough forces there, DOW on 1st of the month, attack enemy army in capital. This way guarantees decisive battle. The most popular spot is Caux > Paris. Where you can start French war with stack wiping 1 French army.

7NDMSZq.jpg

Canada has 6 forts. So 3 stacks will take down 3 forts by 3.

aJSwtjV.jpg

Assign admiral to counter the strongest enemy fleet. 40 width so 13 heavy + 1 light will do 100% efficiency.

q5r6Bea.jpg

I already took down GBR fleets previous wars. 32 width = 10 heavy and 2 light will take care GBR ships.

W8imWUf.jpg

13th day of the war. As I said above, GBR stack in capial wiped. AI usually lower maintenance in peace, If you can start battle on the month war started, you can stack-wipe. This is why I said "always DOW on the first of month".

HA0QoXZ.jpg

No more threat here, carpet-siege time. I made a stack of multiple of 8 so I can conviniently divide with 's' spams.

How to control :
1) spam s key to divide 8 small stacks
2) drag to select all 8 small stacks
3) right click enemy province 1 and press v(deselect 1 unit so deselected unit have the order to go province 1)
4) right click enemy province 2 and press v
5) continues 3-4)

PPEA5g0.jpg

after MN, reinforcement is the king in naval combat. whenever one of my heavy ship down,

SFvNdog.jpg

send full morale heavy ship. If having enough spare ships nearby see or port, naval battle can't be lost. This is great warscore provider.

uzUsfLL.jpg

Combat in fort province gives penalty to attacker. However, the number of general is limited due to upkeep.

So always have a spare army next to sieging stack. Then you can assign a leader and send whenever enemy approaches.

8zsXqwv.jpg

End-game war is about siege. Napoleonic war in Age of revolution is crucial to shorten siege time.

NBiDcFN.jpg

Naval supremacy allows you can safely deploying forces.
It's April 1743. Fourth month into GBR war. Most micromanagement is over, just waiting for siege.

QYEkLBm.jpg

Siege is over, clearing last ships of GBR.

d6pa8M2.jpg

July 1743. Separate peace with Canada makes100% WS against GBR. War control is over.

k7qtyb7.jpg

On the day of cores in French lands completed,

pswxi45.jpg

Take 99% oe worth lands from GBR. This is how to keep coring (almost) 100% oe worth lands.

jyY60ds.jpg

3rd GBR war is over. Coring cycle varies.

In this campaign, Ming has 45% reduced coring cost so 19 month or more to complete core(no DotF means WE can increase coring time).

"DOW with deployed forces > combats > siege > 100% warscore > Redeploy for the next war" should be done in coring cycle.

Generic nation with administrative ideas have 27 months - it's plenty of time. My first wc Sunni Ottomans had 14 months coring time. without properly positioned armies, it was hard to finish war in 14 months.

2. Truce timer / coalition management

Imgur album if you like this format : http://imgur.com/a/mnyid

VNmndF4.jpg

Let me briefly explain coalition:
1) Countries having 50 or more agressive expansion (ae) and having negative opinion can form coalitions
2) Countries having truce with me cannot join coalition
3) Coalition can form if armies of countries which can join coalition is greater than target(usually player) plus target's allies and subject armies minus current target's war enemy forces.

Therefore, in early game, generating less ae (with influence idea), burning ae faster (diplomatic or humanist idea or diplomat advisor etc), or keeping opinion positive are important to avoid coalition.

AE formula is comlicated ( see : http://www.eu4wiki.com/Relations )
Most important part is
1) Countries of same religion or religion group take more ae
2) Countries of same culture or culture group take more ae
3) distance between province of conquest and countries taking ae
4) HRE or vassal takes more ae

To illustrate this, I took old screenshots below:
C4bwLwH.jpg

The reason why HRE states have less ae is

QqwcNuB.jpg

they are protestant/reformed and I took mainly Catholic provinces. That's why I stacked ae only on Catholic countries.

Regarding ae rule, most stable method of early-mid game Europe conquest is to focus on Sunni Ottomans, Orthodox Russia, protestant or reformed Britain/Scandinavia, Catholic Iberia. They are all different religion/culture and corner of Europe. This way keeps ae in mid-Europe below 50 and puts all those countries on truce timer, preventing coalitions.

What about mid-late game? My rule of thumb is complete conquest of religious group by religious group.

Old worlds(Europe, Asia, Africa) roughly consists of Christian Europe, Sunni Africa-Middle East-Central Asia-India, and Eastern East Asia.

According to coalition rule 3 : Coalition can form if armies of countries which can join coalition is greater than target(usually player) plus target's allies and subject armies minus current target's war enemy forces,

for example, in East Asia, if I pur all major blobs of Eastern religion group such as Ming, Korea, Japan, Ayuttaya on truce timer, and if the rest of Eastern religion group countries' forces are less than my forces, coalition cannot be formed. In this case, I can safely ignore ae/coalition and full-scale conquest in this region.

iHlhHcV.jpg

Now back to Ming example, Europe ae is already high enough

aoOYs8E.jpg

And the armies of first page AI blobs outnumbered Ming armies.

MW1E1yg.jpg

However, most major countries are on truce timer. That's why no coalition formed against Ming.

This is how to avoid coalition in late game. Late game, we need to focus major blobs, contrary to fast blobing through easy wars in early game.

To avoid coalition, we need to dow those major great powers on the day truce over. In other words, truce timer is your war plan, so deploy your forces to next war target according to truce timer.

HuVPbdG.jpg

Let me talk about idea pick.
Administrative is mandatory for wc Religious or Humanist is mandatory.
Exploration is great if you want to reveal America TI faster(I took it 2nd and deleted) Influence/diplomatic is great if using vassal feed/annex. The rest are up to choice.

VX06DWz.jpg

Back to Ming campaign. GBR war is over.

Manpower is still low but need alot soon up to truce timer. So I decided clearing minor phase - easy war to recover manpower pool.

p793BHI.jpg

This is another advantages of deploying forces before dow.

Some poor AI turned off fort. Prepare army nearby, dow on the 1st of month, move a stack on the 0 garrison fort befor month goes,

T08dMN6.jpg

We can get sweet free forts after 1 phase.

kBfdbGZ.jpg

Admin tech 27. Final admin eff tech.

bIoprPL.jpg

Clearing minors of 100% oe worths in this coring time.

This kind of easy wars is useful to recover manpower or save up admin points for key tech(admin efficiency).

3. Bordergore for easier next war - Hungary/Russia example

imgur album if you prefer this format : http://imgur.com/a/uJLqi

gTRiluO.jpg

It's 1747 2nd Hungary war. Hungary pu'd Teuton - big blob in Eastern Europe.

5TJ6rfU.jpg

Okay, war is over, All the forts down, 100% WS gained.

My priority for peace treaty are 1) corridor for my army movement 2) enemy forts as many as possible 3) isolation from nearby AI

aRfac0r.jpg

After many clicks, I finally found a way 100% worth provinces covers all Hungary and TO forts.

uUr2AtX.jpg

But 200% OE is too much. So I took a screenshot and made a coring plan with vassal.

BG3uxMW.jpg

No more siege for those forts in this campaign!

7uhmm3V.jpg

Create vassal

yBjaKWM.jpg

Grant provinces.

gdYb09Q.jpg

Well, that's some bordergore.

KEqsv2R.jpg

Let's move on to next example- Russia.

hf8FggX.jpg

You might encounter this situation. AI turn on fort if you move a stack nearby.

RHMfJCr.jpg

Not a bit problem.
Just move a stack on the just-turned-on forts before the month goes. Garrison is low and can't increase because of siege. Assault as soon as wall breached.

V9v3AQX.jpg

War started on October and it's December. 8 lvl fort is down only in 2 months.

FamrvCX.jpg

Same goes here too.

PGssiJX.jpg

Another 8 lvl fort down in 3rd months.

EhAN5PP.jpg

I took all forts and isolated Russia so that Scandinavia can't blob by eating weak Russia or Russia grow back when I attack Scandinavia.

Russia is now kidnapped in my pocket and it will give me lands whenever truce over.

4. Multifront war - Portugal Example

Imgur album if you like this format : http://imgur.com/a/y0T4O

8L8Lpqo.jpg

it's May 1752. 2nd Portugal-Spain pu war plus their allies Venice and defender of the faith papal state.

This kind of multi-front war is really micromanagement-heavy. I don't like it but can't avoid if want wc.

U9oVM89.jpg

Forces are 1,600k vs 900k.

I couldn't find the most important alert : the battle icon on the map "the battle will be here on x.x.xxxx" If this kind alert exists, the micromanagement would be significantly reduced. But sadly not.

So my tip is
1) assign hotkey(1,2,3,4, etc) to each front
2) Maximizing deployment that I said in chapter 1 to start war with stackwiping.

X2QmMGn.jpg

Okay. Iberia-Morocco front (hotkey 1)

I found three stacks of Portugal before war. I placed stacks of double strength to each Portuguese stacks.

Also I have other stacks will run towards turned-off forts.

Lastly, have enough fleets to screen Iberian ships. Naval supremacy is important when you fighting Mediterranean power such as Spain (Iberia-Italy)

taI31hi.jpg

Italy front (hotkey 2)

These forces will take care Portugal's allies Venice and Papal states so that separate peace can be made on time.

EMbdkoK.jpg

North America (hotkey 3)

The province I sent a stack is Mexican capital.

KVfGVQh.jpg

South America (hotkey 4)

There are 0 garrison forts here.

jEHZ9Rr.jpg

South Africa (hotkey 5) WS farming front.

pSqsxWx.jpg

Oceania (hotkey 6) WS farming too.

EZgJmoX.jpg

7 days into war. I tackled one Portugal stack in Coimbra. Because of the low maintenance, they have lower morale, very vulnerable to stack-wiping.

zNpraHC.jpg

Another stack in Algarve.

Hp6niQP.jpg

Spanish in Melilla
.
4qgM0lZ.jpg

Portugal main fleet

wqKHvPg.jpg

Spain main fleet

ONzHl4l.jpg

Other stack in Abda

Liltgu7.jpg

Mexican in Borrado

All these battle started before a month goes

h3GB175.jpg

The results are 4 stack-wiping of 42 + 39 + 60 + 43 = 184k enemy army.

XeFksCa.jpg

making 1600k vs 900k into 1550k vs 660k.

1AP06Ah.jpg

According to Coalition rule, some countries started to join but

EwfGXiV.jpg

They don't join anymore because I erased significant amount of Portugal-Spain army.

qDVXAWD.jpg

Because of stack-wiping, I can safely carpet-siege Morocco front.

Hc33Qut.jpg

A month later, free forts - turned off forts - are on my hand.

Guaviare - lvl8

Gd3oGbV.jpg

Toledo lvl 8

0akTON3.jpg

Marraqueaxe lvl 8

These free forts should be prioritized. It shorten war length significantly.

uFgW0eZ.jpg

For microcontrol,

Zoom out to see whole front,
whenever enemy approaches, pause.
Do the necessary things such as assign leader, move to province with advantages.

Keep eyes on whole front with 1,2,3,4 - hotkeys.

HkBnQyf.jpg

7 month into war, WS is already over 50, it's finishing phase.

vhptBTw.jpg

As enemy forces reduced, coalition dismantled.

0TmQqgg.jpg

August 1753, 16 months into war, I made separate peace with Papal

Zklfszv.jpg

and Venice.

jerSadZ.jpg

The Portugal war ended in 16months resulting 100% WS worths provinces in my hand.

Without deployment before dow, there would not exist 180k stackwiping nor several lvl 8 forts in a month.
This kind of war cannot be finished in 16 months. Then you will miss a coring cycle, adm points reaching 999 limit and you gotta do 150 oe coring or higher and so on...

I'd say this can be good example of why you need deploy before war.

5. Can I do wc? Coring table here!

EV42Gji.jpg

This is the world in 1742.

B3ZpwWh.jpg

And my developement, 12212 in old worlds.

Can I do wc? :p

All the micromanagements that I talked in 1-4 chapters aim for "DOW with deployed forces > combats > siege > 100% warscore > Redeploy for the next war" in coring cycle.

In other words, non-stop coring of 100% oe worth provinces or 100% conversion of adm points into coring developement.

In order to do that, one needs to have
1) enough military forces to prevent potential coalition
2) Religious or Humanism to counter rebels
3) enough military forces to take lands for coring

Al9y3K0.jpg

If one can do non-stop 100% oe coring,
This is coring table which estimates how many developement you can core before 1821.
(attached file, see below)

For example, Italy of total reduced coring cost 50% and of max absolutism 100 can do core 22458 developement from 1609 to 1821 as long as one can do 100% oe coring all the time.

My example of Ming, which didn't intend wc from the starts, had 45 RCC and 90 max absolutism. It's on table 2, saying can do core 10729 developement from 1745-1821.

12212 dev. in 1742 + 10729 = 23000 dev Seem enough to cover 20-21k dev on normal so I'd say yes I can do wc on normal But I had no idea on very hard final developement. So I did also vassal annex to boost my developement.

cgvxXww.jpg

Dec 1802 wc.

4yZ2Fdz.jpg

of final developement of 23191.

So we can safely estimate final developement 21k for normal or 24k for very hard. And we have coring table to calculate how much one can core.

If you can do non stop 100% oe coring, and your developement plus your estimated coring dev is greater than 21k or 24k (up to difficulty) you can do one tag wc only by coring.

If you seems like behind schedule, keep vassal feeding and annex to boost.

Thanks for reading, happy wc :)
