  • Crusader Kings II
Hi

Im playing as the duke of Luxemburg in the Charlemagne era and almost all Europe is Calchedonian i have a doubt ¿In certain moment the Calchedonian convert to Christianity of Orthodoxy? ¿The Pope call for crusades? If he call for a crusade ¿Which year he call for it?

Thanks, Awesome mod, my favorite one

The official split between East and West aka the Great Schism was in 1054.

I have seen the... weird Chalcedonian religious leader seen call a crusade before. Somehow they always want to conquer Egypt. I don't get it.

Chalcedonian is "mainstream" Christianity before the great East-West Schism, so basically combined Orthodox and Catholic faith. They're like a mish-mash of Orthodox and Catholic mechanics. The schism is already happening slowly (through the Latin rite and Greek rite traits) but isn't necessarily bound to happen. I think stuff like Pope crowning a Holy Roman Emperor while Byzantine Empire exists advances the schism.

in the long game I'm playing from an old Gods start , the schism occurred in 1027 or so. Left a few stranded orthodox temples and a prince archbishop in generaly catholic lands . ie the bishop in my capital county of Dublin went Orthodox.

Shortly afterwards the Jihads started when the Byzantines took Damascus. The the Crusades started after the Sunnis to Nicea. Which had a strange result that I'm posting a thread about shortly.

The earliest start has indeed the problem of a rather strong Abbasid Caliphate and a literally crumbling Eastern Rome.

Successful Jihads for Constantinople aren't really rare.
