All,
This is a shameless plug for the game Balance of Power, which plays Wednesday nights at 4:30 PST/7:30 EST, using Hive's Age of Imperialism mod.
It is the year 1508 (from a 1337 start), with a good, (fairly) reliable group of veterans. The setting captures the best of both worlds-it is far enough long that diplomacy is well established, nations are large and wealthy enough for frequent wars and there's already a developed flavor to the game, but because it is near the usual start date the range of events, monarchs, leaders and situations is still virgin territory. Plenty of room to define the country for yourself (you could even stop the constant DOWing of Austria!)
Our French player, Cannonfodder, will play his final session next week, before he runs off to save the world. We're in need of a replacement starting Wednesday, January 25th, to play out the campaign to 1913. Reliability and activity (especially diplomatic) are necessities. Experience is certainly welcome, but not required.
http://www.europa2.ru/cgi-bin/leagu...eason=Valkyrie.net VII&lang=eng&yearsave=1489 These are outdated, I'm afraid, because the stat page was down last night. But little has changed on that map apart from France acquiring Dauphine, Bearn and Rousillon and the Great White Whale acquiring Brabant and Flanders.
Diplomacy is quite fluid all around, but France has been particularly active, fighting six wars with England, a war with Castile and seven wars with Austria thus far. It's had temporary alliances with England, Muscowy and Venice, and has a wide range of opportunities before it.
