A New Soviet Era

1936. Germany has re-militarized the Rhineland. Threats seem on the horizon for the Soviet Union on every horizon, on every front. Will Communism perish? Or shall in endure?

The final stages of the Second Five Year Plan are being finalized...

Defensive lines in the interior of Russia.

An international Communist spy network is slowly being established. One day... there will be a time where there will be a Communist under every rock. Domestic spy rings are being purged, and soon the Soviet Union would be free from Fascist traitors.

The Second Five Year Plan is nearing completion! Results are already being seen. Plans have been drawn for more investment into the Trans-Siberian railroad (infrastructure expansions for a line of provinces between Belarus and Vladivostock). Future historians will question Stalin's sanity at this decision, wasting nearly a year's of production towards building roads and railroads through the expanses of Russia.

Notes: I will continue the AAR, I have a couple more game years of sceenshots to share. After which, the Soviet Union has pretty much secure it's dominance in a bipolar world.

Also, I reduced the land stacking penalty modifier to 0.1 sometime during the German offensive in 1940.

Despite efforts of Gosplan, Germany still has greater industrial output. Also of note, Italy decides not to annex Albania.

The Soviet intervention in the Spanish civil war begins.

The Germans, weary of Soviet intentions, decide not to sign an Axis-Comintern alliance. The Soviet Union continues to refuse export of resources into the main imperialist nations...

Meanwhile, the Nationalists begin to mobilize their armies to destroy the Soviet intervention forces. After a series of defeats, and Stalin's unwillingness to sent over any more forces, the War Minister decides to withdraw Soviet forces.

The Winter War begins...

The Germans decide to clean up loose ends, especially with Soviet attentions diverted to Finland. The Soviets had not expected an Axis betrayal so soon. Many divisions were undersupplied, and underpayed, it would take days before the Soviet Union could increase their organization to sufficient levels. And it would take years to initiate builds of armor and infantry divisions.

The Winter War drags on...

The Axis has reached Soviet defensive lines, and driven back soviet forces in the Northern Ukraine. The siege of Kiev would last many months. Attempts to attack the Vyushgorad salient failed repeatedly, except for one time, however once Vyushgorad was liberated, Soviet forces moving to it were immediately attacked and pushed back.

Meanwhile the Soviet navy sinks German wolfpacks in the Baltics.

The situation in Europe.

OOC: Sometime after Kiev fell (in Mid-May 1940), I changed the misc.txt file to reduce the stacking penalty.
