Just curious, how will C.O.R.E handle lend lease, is it the same as regular HOI2?

Lend-Lease will be reworked to:

A. Include all nations who received Lend-Lease aid.
B. Approximate the ammounts received in reality in game terms.
C. Allow for some ahistorical possibilities.
D. Be more than just resources/IC, and include blue prints

But it will be event driven still, with a sending event for the USA, and an event for the receipient nation.

My concern is the inablilty of axis nations to intercept L/L. It just magical appears where it is sent right?

If CORE could fix this too.. :)

just a thought

Well, it's not that simple. What the events are mostly is direct techinical assistance and transfers to regions other than the main war zones. What I think you're thinking of is the regular shipments of supplies and resources between the Allies. This is accounted for in two ways already: 1. Convoy raiding; 2. Trade efficeincy. You can put a hurting on the UK if you manage your convoy raiders right, though it's rather difficult. Japan can easilly strangle China economically. The UK can disrupt Axis resource shipments with little problem.

Better Lend Lease

I apologise for asking this question a bit too early in my experience of HOI2 as it may already happen but I am curious to know before reading everything.

It has seemed to me that original HOI did not handle Lend lease very accurately in regard to the provision of finished weapons. For example the US supplied a Division's worth of superior tanks for the British to use as replenishments after their disaster at Tobruk. The only way to do this in HOI was to send an actual US army Division rather than loads of IC's or supplies as in HOI Lend Lease, all of which would take rather longer to have an effect if needed to build new units or the game could simply replenish the British with the poorer tanks they already had.

It appears at first sight that HOI2 makes this worse, as replenishments now require IC's and are now therefore slower to implement than HOI.

Finally my question - is it possible in HOI2 to model Lend Lease by sending (I guess via an event) ready made tank or other brigades or even whole divisions (the US sent 20,000+ tanks to Russia) at the tech level of the supplying organisation? If it is possible, might CORE plan to do this?

I guess the same methodology could apply to the use of captured enemy equipment after large scale surrenders or country overruns after all the Atlantic Wall had many captured Russian artillery pieces in it and the German army was initially equipped with loads of 38t's acquired from Czech inventories.

Everything you mention is possible with events. The problem is that the event triggers could be very complex. For example, what if the UK had a "disaster" in another province or even another theater? That is why we stayed away from battle events...

Lend Lease Events

Thank you for the reply.

I was really just using the Tobruk example as a justification for the general principle that Lend Lease coould sometimes take the form of sending some ready formed Divisions or Brigades. In the case of US to UK these might be superior tanks whilst US to SU might even be inferior tanks!

My real point was that if Lend Lease just sends supplies or IC improvements then its effect is slightly longer term and does not always simulate what actually happened on occasions in WW2. Thus I might suggest that Lend Lease Events could take a variety of forms to some extent at random (if not human controlled) but if it is possible for the game to detect that a recipient country appears to be in a deteriorating state then perhaps the probability of "immediate" aid in the form of ready formed units would be increased.
