10,000 Normans invaded. Aren't they automatically excommunicated for attacking a crusader state? The one consolation is that they will suffer attrition on a massive scale.

Since Luca's 1,000 aren't strong enough to meet them on the field of battle, he may as well finish off Algeria, turn around to beat Cyrenica and cross to Sicily to bring all of the Island under Lombard control. Now it is time to see just how strong Luca's alliance is.
 
Ouch!

I hope the Pope called the truce of God or something. Did Luca secure an alliance after taking the throne or not? If not, maybe that would further explain why everyone was so keen on attacking him.
 
Luca has an alliance with Torcotore of Cagliari, but it isn't going to help out much here.

The timing of this attack only shows how vile and uncaring the Norman de Hautevilles are! They would defy the will of the Pope with little regard for the consequences. The Pope, of course, did not intervene. He was too busy pursuing his own campaign in the Spanish Marche (no joke!).

Looks like you are going to lose Naples this time around. A bigger and better navy than the Normans, which is where Cagliari can help. Conquer all of Sicily and pillage your own mainland holdings so the Normans get nothing but scorched earth.

What happened to the Romagna alliance?

Somehow , I have the impression that you will be fighting the Normans to a finish for the rest of Luca and his son's reigns.

Alliances seem to silently end for me. Maybe there's a message for it that I turned off or maybe they are just handled that way, but I don't seem to get a notification when an Alliance ends.
 
Mm. If so, I have it turned off too. I'll be wandering around when suddenly someone sez "Hey, want an alliance?" I think: But I have an ally and I can only have...hey, where did he go!?? :mad:
 
The adventures of our friend, the Duke, will continue soon. I had a brief vacation, combined with my machine being down (reworking my hairy Linux config), but I'm ready to start posting more updates soon.
