A short lesson in TGW tech understanding

Prologue/explanation.

I would like to give people a understanding of TGW (The Great War) which I have been involved in since about a month ago, and I am most fascinated by techs, and I also want to make a TGW AAR, so how to combine these?
Easy, I play a number of games, each game (with different nations of course) I will try to complete another tech tree, I will start with the one I am writing tech descriptions for now: Subs.

Right, this one will be about Brazil, hands off, just hoping that no-one DOWs me.


The world 1914, ah what a place, Germany at the peak of its power, stretching Von der Maaz, bis an der Memel, von den Etsch, bis an den Belt, Austria-hungarys star has long since began to fade, they are experiencing difficulties holding their multiethnic empire together and the emperor is an aging old man.
Russia is as large as it will ever be(?), but their people crave reforms, and the Tsar has a weak will.
France is consumed by thoughts of La revance, but has an army only the fraction of the size of the german army.
Italy wants Südtyrol and it is doubtful that they will support The central powers in an event of war.
Britain is focusing on her colonies, desperate to hold themselves out of european conflicts, the once so mighty ottoman empire is in its death throes, Brazil, is a country with a mission.


With the stage set, it is time for the greatest conflict man has ever seen.

Let the war begin!

Quick lookaround, january 1914, brazil has decent stocks of everything, but coal is soon to run out and we do not produce enough for a trade deal.
Research is started in the fields of submarines, industry and electronics.

On january 14, the ottoman ambassador Abdul ibn Hatt (relative of the ibn Hatt in my guess-the-author 'AAR ) entered my, the official counselor of the presidents office.
- Greetings, the ambassador began, you know why I am here...
- Yesyesyes, I answered, we accept, the rio de janeiro is yours.
- Wonderful, praise Allah! the ambassador said and looked up onto the chandelier, it is not clear weather he admired it or tried to see beyond it.

the twenty million ottoman gold bars for the battleship arrived about a day later(OOC: actually, all you get is 2000 supplies, lets just say that one suplie is 20000 gold bars), they were hidden deep inside the amazon at a secret warehouse.

The year continued with USA finishing the billion-dollar project of the panama canalon january 24, and on february 18, Rasputins wish led to someone beeing replaced, the world remained at an unstable peace.

On march 2, a modern mine was discovered, this was the first step to sea mines and it greatly improved our armys defensive capabilities.

March 3 - Veracruz, Mexico.

Gunfire echoed down the empty streets of Veracuz, located at the eastern shores of the mexican gulf.
A few hundred meters out into the harbour was an american warship, firing salvo after salvo towards the shore, the resistance consisted of a few inhabitants of the city.
A few mexican soldiers was dragging a small artillery pice down the street, and an occational burst of gunfire could still be heard.
American soldiers were in responce to the kidnapping of some sailors the day before attacking Veracruz, the city was run over and occupied.


On may 2, the chinese dictator pressed through a new constitution, giving him absolute power, this was followed on march the eight with the invention of Modern Raw Material Basis and Chemical-Industrial-Technological basis.

June 2 - Top secret research laboratory, the jungles of the amazon.
Urbano Silva threw himself back into his leather-clad chair, drew his thin, skinny fingers through his almost non-existant silver hair and drew his thin lips into a smile.
A few of the old mans wrinkles dissapeared as he scribbled something on a sheet of paper, outside, the thrumming of military boots grew louder, then slowly faded again.
- HEVREKA! he screamed, a shudder went through the tin body of the researcher, then died at the spot, however(OOC:Oh, I like that word) his notes were still there, it was a theory that would shake the world, it was the basics of Wireless communications.

Late june, the streets of Sarajevo were empty apart from a few pedestrians, the great parade of Franz Ferdinand had taken place the day before, a bomb had been thrown at the car of Ferdinand, however(OOC:There it is again) the heir to the austro-hungarian throne had simply picked it up and thrown it out, it had then blown up a following car.
The driver looked at the map, the hospital was not far from where they were now, 'If I turn right here...' he thought and turned, that was a bad decision, unfortunately, he took the wrong turn, and passing right in front of a young student with lung disease, Gavrilo Princip, who jumped up onto the vehicle and fired two shots that were to kill millions, he had killed the heir to austria -hungary and his wife.
Vienna was in a state of, if not upheaval, then stress, it was argued about what to do, Serbia was blamed for the murder, but they couldn´t make any actions against the Serbs without german backing.


Thus, the final step towards war was taken...

I'd say Qingdao - where their Far Eastern Squadron is based.

errr.... no, it stands in Akmolinsk, I didn´t know that they were so eager to get to Siberia, and it also reminds me of 'Tales of the gluttonic knights'.
