aI had to put this on the forum to get my thoughts out, and I could use the feedback if any are interested. My goal with this mod is to eventually raise the bar for Crusader Kings II modding, and I am hoping
that my ideas for the role of ambitions and characters and everything else will impact others. A Song of Ice and Fire:Ambitions is separate in concept from CK2. The idea behind Ambitions is that you as a
ruler, must accomplish your "Family Ambition". The game itself is planned to last 100-200 years in CK2 time, although according to Song of Ice and Fire, it takes place shortly after Robert's Rebellion and continues for the stretch of the War of the Five Kings. However, the goal of the game is not in fact to play out the events of the books but to make your own story, using the books as guidance.
I will proceed to compare a few of the mechanics of CK2 with those of A Song of Ice and Fire:
Dynasties - The new idea for Dynasties is that each Dynasty picks a "Family Ambition". For example, Renly and Stannis Baratheon may have the family ambitions: Become King of Westeros, meaning that
once children are had, they too will want King's Landing. Family Ambitions can range from taking land to beheading rivals to defeating the Others, and everything in between. When a family ambition is
concluded, the family attains a rather large score increase, and they are given a new family ambition. Sometimes, Dynasties will become content, granting a ruling debuff to all members of the dynasty, but giving monthly score to the family. I will continue to improve on this build of Ambitions.
Mercenaries - Mercenaries can now be recruited only if there is an army of yours in their recruitment territory. You must buy access to their holdings and from there they can be purchased normally, I have more in store for this, but cannot think of anything else, feedback would be nice on this department.
Religion/Fealty - I am changing Religion to Fealty. This means that you must have a casus belli or sanctioning from your ruler in order to declare war on houses within your holding, but you do not need a
casus belli to declare war on other realms.
More to come...(I am not finished, but I am running low on time, I will share more ideas later)
