Although it deserves it's own thread it seems to me that german culute needs to be split. By more than religion. It is too powerful all by itself

It's already split in german and hanseatic and possible wendish, and this is not the thread for it.

I think Milan should have many possibilities, but one should be Swabian inheritance, there should be no sicilian inheritance possible, but Milan could live on ruled by nobles as the duchy of Milan or KoI, or it could become a republic with Genoese support (if they're not KoI).

I would want to redirect the sicilians from Italy, they would want to involve themselves to make sure of the status quo in North Italy, but their interrest should be in the southern Meditteranean, becoming an major seapower.

I would say with the current balance, it's best if Milan and Swabia are joined most of the time. It's fine to talk about Milan and Swabia as 'medium' rather than 'major' powers, but what usually happens is that both countries get crushed by the local majors, making Genoa, Bavaria, Burgundy and even sometimes Hungary a lot stronger than they should be. Perhaps we could ask in around 1470, has Milan become strong enough to be the KoI? If yes, they stay independent. If no, they get inherited by Swabia. That ought to ensure that there's a decent power to counterbalance Genoa in northern Italy.

Agreed on Sicily not inheriting Milan. Sicily has a fairly good chance of dominating the peninsula without further assistance.

I still think that there ought to be a built-in split at some point if the kingdom of Swabia-Milan grows too large.

Does this united country have both German and Italian culture? Good god I hope not! Or maybe it does for a time, the nobles cooperating while there are threats from Bavaria, Genoa, Burgundy. Then, as above, the cracks appear, and the king cannot keep both his Italian and German nobles satisfied. If the player choses German culture, he loses Italian culture for a long period and there are several revolt events. Later, Italian can be regained, then lost again in the late 1700s. And vice versa if Italian culture becomes the preferred.

In this way we create a complex challenge for the player, but not a monster we can't control. :)

As long as it will be easy for the AI to do. If all the events require the player to read the event file then ... :)

If Swabia inherit KoI, the Swabians maybe prefer an italianized way, if Milan has not formed KoI, the Swabians might see the german way better and look down at the italians, however there should be an option that make Swabia not inherit, which a strong Milan might use.

A papal friendly KoI should not be inherited by a protestantic Swabia. If Swabia/ KoI is merged there will be problems for Swabia trying to keep both italian and german culture. But as mentioned, if Milan is strong italian culture would be the most lucrative to keep, while german culture would be better i Milan is weak.
