Since it's designed with MP balance in mind, I hope there won't be too many 'totally deterministic' events in general...

The ones I am thinking of are ones like the Spanish bankruptcy, where a knowledgeable Spanish player knows that on a certain date he will lose a fixed number of manufacturies. Or state inheritances. Basically, ones that dramatically alter a player's decisions based on knowledge of future historical events.

Because of this, I'd like to see a shift in focus toward significant random events. I'm thinking of some particularly good ones that are in AGCEEP.

I would also like to see 'exceptional year/deflation' events lessened in effect. Currently, some MP games are virtually won and lost based on how many inflation decreasing random events are received, or aren't received.
To my mind, random event inflation decreases are cool, but they should be spread out more. I.E. the scale of the effect should be decreased, and there should be more of them, this should decrease the luck element somewhat (assuming the random number generator is relatively well behaved).

There will be alternate "bad" events events like civil wars, monarchs going insane. So a bit of determinism will be in, I could be persuaded if the time is there to adjust the scenario for MP by the option button scenario, likewise with the exceptional year and other events.

But don´t be afraid, Spanish bankruptcies and ottoman civil wars won´t be in. Or at least manageable.

I think, I will reduce the randomevents to -2 inflation to make them less overpowered..

Sounds like a good plan to me :)

Woot, in.

Exceptional years made -1 in the first two centuries, and -2 lateron.

Bank and Stock Exchange are fine, Deflation was decreased to -2 and -3.

Let them suffer!:)
