And how did you do an entire new map ?
Did you draw the new map and overlaped it over the old using the MapUtility ?
Tell me the secret I need it, I covet it, and if you ask I am gonna kill for it :D

awesome an ace combat mod, how you planning on modelling the super weapons though? Stonehenge and the like.

also there would be the research paths necessary for the huge subs from yuktobania.

and if the game start in the 90's you might need to put in some events about the Ulysses 1994XF04 Asteroid
 
Amazing job SemmiS. The map looks incredible.
Sorry for laying low the last little while. I ended up being extremely busy over the holidays. Now though I'm pumped and ready to start drawing up a story and some events. What did you have in mind? I'm sure lots of people would like to see the Belkan conflict so I was thinking we could maybe start the game off in say 1993, two years before the start of the war. That way players could settle into their respective nations and we could have a few favor events that build up into the conflict. After that though did you want to follow the events of the games exactly? I know that there are some gaps in between the wars that last years and could make things alittle boring, so I thought we could spice it up by adding some of our own events and conflicts or possible making some alternative outcomes to the ones already set in the games. As this is your baby you of course have the finally word on everything. I just want to pick your brain alittle before I start anything
 
Wow! Congratulations: I must admit that when I first saw this, I had my doubts that creating a whole new map from scratch was possible, but you have really pulled one out of the hat: well done mate! I've never even played any of the Ace Combat games (although I am aware of them), but will definitely download this, if just to play on a new map!

I know that there's loads still left to do (even with just the map), so if you need any ideas for the tech tree, or any assistance putting it together (I am fairly good at this), I would be more than willing to help:)
 
So in going over the history of the Ace of Combat universe I've made up this brief timeline of conflicts in the earlier part of the saga:

1980's-1995 - Osean and Yuktobanian Cold War - Ends with the Belkan War. Arguably restarts after that conflict.
1986 - Tyumen Dispute - Brutal war between Yuktobania and her southern neighbors Kaluga and Romny. Eventual Yuktobanian victory.
1988 - Belkan Land Review - Belka releases Ustio and is forced to sale other lands to its neighbors in the hopes of alleviating its struggling economy. These efforts prove to be failures. A fascist government comes to power promising a reversal in Belkan fortunes.
1994 - Coming Armageddon? - An asteroid, first labeled '1994XFO4', and later renamed 'Ulysses', is discovered approaching the Earth's atmosphere.
1995 - Belkan War - Belka launches a Blitzkrieg style invasion of its southern and western neighbors in the hopes of winning back its lost land and prestige. She makes quick and successful inroads into Allied territory before being halted and turned back. Allied victory. Belka is further divided as Osea comes into position of southern Belka.
1995-1996 - Revolution and Revolt - The international revolutionary armed group "A World With No Boundaries" raises up in southern Belka after the signing of the peace treaty ending the Belkan War. A intense but brief conflict ensues. Allied victory.
1999 - Ulysses Asteroid Strikes the Usean Continent - The natural event kills thousands, displaces millions and smashes the economies of all nations on the Usean continent.
2000 - Usean Tensions Rise - Erusea closes its borders in the hopes of stopping the flow of refugees from its neighbors. 16 other Usean countries turns against Erusea and merge together in a very tight military alliance known as the Independent State Allied Forces (ISAF). Erusea feels isolated and threatened, thus beginning its massive military build up.
2003-2005 - The Continental War - Erusea, now under a military government, decides to invade the neutral nation of San Salvacion. Coming into possession of a powerful anti-aircraft weapon located in San Salvacion motivates Erusea to strike out at its ISAF enemy. In months almost all of the Usean continent is occupied. The remaining ISAF forces retreat to the island nation of Northpoint. The ISAF with Northpoint help finally return to the continent some time later. Erusea is turned back and defeated. ISAF and Northpoint are victorious. The nations of Amber and Ugellas are declared independent from Erusea by the peace terms.
1995-1996 - Free Erusean Uprising - Erusean military officers seize control of Erusea's islands just days after the signing of the peace treaty. On the mainland resistance also remains strong. The officers of Free Erusea continue to resist allied control. They are eventually defeated by the allies.

There is also the Circum-Pacific War (2010), the Emmeria-Estovakia War (2015 - 2016) and the Aurelia-Leasath War (2020) of which I won't go into detail here. So as you can see we have alot happening over a long period of time. Now my question is what date do you think is best to start this game and what end date do you believe is reasonably possible? I originally thought that a 1993 start date would be best but now I'm actually more inclined to suggest a 1986 start date as it would more interesting to start off with conflicts already raging and the reasons behind the big conflicts not yet explored. Furthermore, in writing down and researching all this material I realized that several revolter nations will be needed as some nations that aren't fully explained appear and disappear in annexations, mergers and peace treaties throughout the Ace Combat story. I also realized that scripting and AI writing will also be a pain. Does anyone here have experience dealing with editing the AI? What are your thoughts on all this SemmiS, Tigey, torenico and anyone else reading?
 
You got a complete and detailed timeline (month by month and even day by day for some wars) on the Electrosphere (the link I gave page 2 IIRC). This timeline ranges from ca. 1905 to 2045 (Ace Combat 3).

Each conflict is described with a lot of details, which could be useful for flavor events, or in game settings.

If you can't see it, you have to register on this forum. Aside from the timeline, there is also a lot of informations about equipements, technologies, squadrons, aces and nations (I didn't find any propaganda, unfortunately).

@Lazzars: Thanks. I haven't thought about it much but I think superweapons that are stationary (like Stonehenge, Chandelier, Megalith, etc) will be event driven and vehicle superweapons like the Yuktobanian Sub, Arkbird, etc will cost so much resources that you'll only be able to build one or two. That's my take on it atleast. There could be a better way.

yeah we're home...
just REALLY busy at home!

sorry for the laps in time. i myself have been having a hard time trying to get some free time to get some events and info down. should be coming along shortly. as for SemmiS and the map I'm not sure. he'll probably be getting back to everyone shortly.
everyone will have to hold tight. building a mod from the ground up with one or two people isn't easy
 
So to give you all an idea as to where we stand right now:

-Last I checked SemmiS was still working on the map.
-I've decided to start the mod off at the end of 1994, so that things get of to a active and energetic start with the finalization of Belka's military buildup and the sighting of the Ulysses asteroid (this date is just the working idea however and may change if SemmiS or anyone else sees fit to push it back).
-I've also started to write some events, namely for Belka, but as the map isn't finished yet I'll have to wait as the events require id numbers.
-AI has yet to be started as we need a map and ids of course.
-gfx also have not yet been fully worked on so far as I know. I'm pretty sure SemmiS has a collection of some gfxs already but most likely not alot.

So that brings us to now.
I was thinking that to maybe help move this along and get things going some people could start to find some good images and gfxs of the different models used in the Ace Combat universe (because nothing motives people more then pictures of things getting done).
We need images of jets, soldiers, tanks, propaganda, techs, events etc... all modern stuff of course.
Furthermore, if some people were willing, we could also start to make up governments, tech teams and ministers/leaders.
As this is based around a video game and not everything was explained in detail we have the liberty create some of our own ministers and leaders they way we please.
Every wanted to see yourself in a video game or imaged you could be a armor specialist general? Well heres your chance. Just please be realistic and rational however (ig: no vampires or cutesy asian girls... you know what I'm talking about).
This is all a big task but if we start working on it now, and if we have some help, the Ace Combat mod can truly take off.
