Active Movie Window?

Periodically the game window minimizes to display another window, the Active Movie Window. This other window quickly closes and I can restore the game window. But what causes this to happen? I notice too that the Java console is active when this happens.

I originally posted about this in the AGCEEP bug forum because I first noticed this with that mod, and hadn’t experienced it with vanilla. It happened so often that—combined with the CTDs—I stopped playing AGCEEP and went back to vanilla. But it happens with vanilla too, just not as often as with the mod.

I have the latest beta.

Not sure I understand. What is being displayed in these windows that pop up and cause the game window to minimize?

Nothing is displayed in the “Active Movie Window.” After the game window minimizes, this window is displayed just a short time. I had to see it several times before I could actually read the window title in the title bar.

I also though it was related to Java, but the last time it happened, the Java console was not involved.

I’ve been playing EUII for 2+ years now and this just started happening—since the last beta. It happens so much with AGCEEP it makes that mod unplayable.

Got to be something running in the background, no one else has reported anything like this. I would check for Virus and Spyware.

That sounds likely but as of this morning Spybot and Adaware report everything is OK. Plus this only happens with these two games—no other Paradox game or game by another vendor. For example, HOPI 2 can run clean for hours on end.

I renamed the AVI directory. I’ve an ATI card.

I don't know really what to tell you, no one else has reported it so it has to be unique to your system. You say it never happened until you installed a user made mod, Perhaps that mod altered something, and you have not completely removed the mod from your system now that you went back to vanilla.

Actually, I had not uninstalled AGCEEP. After doing that, vanilla stopped exhibiting this behavior. So it’s definitely related to AGCEEP.

Sounds real strange.
