The refits to Mountain-III have begun. ESN Krakatoa and ESN Stromboli have entered drydock for conversion to Assault Carriers. The conversions will take 21 months.

Our second Bayonet Assault Shuttle has been completed, and three more are on the ways.

Don't forget to include a bar in the refits!

There are about 160 Streaks commanded by zero-stat NCOs, because we don't have enough Officers to command them all... and NONE of the Gnats except the Squadron Leaders have Officers.

I could just go into SM mode and add as many Officers as I need, of course... but I prefer to use that mode only for correcting bugs.

IMO you really shouldn't need an officer per fighter. You should perhaps have an officer per squadron then have a "squadron experiance" level like ships have. In case Steve is still around :)

how can you increase the population growth rate that seems like the only thing standing in our way and total dominance of the sector.

The only obvious ways to increase population growth are:

1) Install a Planetary Governor with a good +Pop bonus.

2) Build some Sector Command stations and install Sector Governors with a good +Pop bonus.

3) Send lots of colonists out to Class-0 colonies, where the Population Growth Rate is 10%+ instead of 2%+ as on Earth.

How is my character doing?

You are commanding one of the new 20,000-ton Constellation class Fleet Carriers, with 47 Streaks in your Strike Group.
Crew Training 150, Fleet Init 185, Fighter Ops +30%, Espionage +30%, Athiest, Cold Manner.

I have just finished reading through the 342 pages. A great game, I am now seriously tempted to start playing myself. Would I be able to join the glorious Emucracy, preferably a decoy ship, given the conventional warships are all fully manned?

You are now a Lt-Commander, in charge of the Rock-III class Decoy Vessel ESND Diorite.
Crew Training 50, Fleet Init 105, FTR ops +10%, Xenology +20%, Capricious, Complacent, No outside interests.

Hmmm, are we going to build even more mines in Moria, how many mines our glorious leader planned to have here? Combined effiency and mine increases.. do we have any projections how long will rare minerals last?

I hope we are not putting all the eggs into one basket, what if we lost Moria for some reason? Do we have secondary or tertiary resources hubs?

I will certainly be starting up more mines in the colonies, if only because it's a pain distributing ore from a single source to scattered points all over known space. Moria is about the safest spot conceivable for a mining center, though... it's only one jump from Earth.

May I inquire as to how my character is doing please?

You are running the Communications department at Fleet Operations Headquarters. Your Communications bonus is now up to +50% (+25% is considered an exceptionally high score for a stat), and a fraction of that bonus is passed down to every ship in our Navy.

Dynamic, Impatient, Many social interests, Stubborn.

Can I have a status update on my character? Just wanted to know if I gained any traits or something, since the beginning.
I know I'm a Commodore in charge of the ESN Pegasus :D
Thanks.

Characters don't gain traits unless I add them in SM mode, or unless the character dies and I substitute a different one.
Only percentage stats improve over time: Crew Training 50, Fleet Init 389, Ftr Ops +30%

One of our Naval Dockyards has finished retooling for the Star-III Destroyer Escort conversions, and the Fleet Destroyers ESN Chimerae and ESN Cor Coroli have been detached and sent back to Earth for rebuilding as Destroyer Escorts.

Another research lab found on El Dorado, and another free tech: 15 cm Microwave Focusing technology.

We are only waiting for the loaded troop transports to arrive, and we can begin the invasion. I really must design some faster troop transports... with our fleet speed being raised from 4000 kps to 5600 kps, a speed of 1200 kps for the troop transports is beginning to seriously hamper operations.

I wouldn't want to serve under myself.

However, "Crew Training 50, Fleet Init 105" - how do those compare to the average?

Crew Training 50 is about average... a lot of characters (perhaps most) have zero. Fleet Init 105 would be a bit low for an armed ship, but is no handicap for a Decoy Vessel since you WANT the opponents to shoot at you instead of at a warship. Both of those stats improve with experience.

A word about on-going ship construction:

We are currently focusing our Naval yards on refitting our fleet up to modern standards rather than producing new ships. By the time all of the refits are complete, our fleet speed will have been raised from 4000 kps to 5600 kps, and the ships will be much better armed and better protected... as well as having improved sensors, fire controls, fuel storage, magazine storage, and so on.

Our only current Naval builds are Bayonets, to be loaded aboard the rebuilt Mountain-III Assault Carriers.

Civilian construction is going ahead full speed. We are in the process of doubling (and later, tripling) the size of our Colony Ship fleet. We are also building our ninth and tenth Asteroid Mining Stations (basically, civilian ships loaded with mining modules, but with no engines or fuel tanks) and have designs ready for the largest Tugs that we can build in our current yards... the 98,000-ton Atlas class. These Tugs should be large enough to tow Orbital Habitats, allowing us to start colonizing some nearby systems that have minerals but no habitable planets.

This is truly joyous news! Finally, thanks to Alien Technology (TM), the new Focused Microwawe ovens from GE heat up the CENTER of you meal, instead of only the edges. You can also use our easy to use touch many to configure your microwawe oven to heat up selected part of your meal to different temperatures. Everything you need is only a couple of thousand clicks away!

Ooh, do you have anywhere targetted for that? Assuming you do, will you build some Habitats at the same time so they're ready by the time the tugs are done?

I'm building a few additional shipyards right now... but yes, I could start building Habs as well.

Another Naval yard has finished retooling, this one for Admiral-IIIs. The ESN Nelson and ESN John Paul Jones have been detached for rebuilding as faster and more powerful Battle-Management Vessels.

It turns out that an Orbital Habitat capable of housing 50,000 colonists costs less than half as much to build as a Research Lab, Military Academy, or level-1 Shipyard. It also masses over 250,000 tons. I think I'll build a few of these "small" ones first, until I see whether the Atlas Tugs can actually TOW them at a reasonable speed. No sense building a bunch of habitats that will take decades to move into position.

A word of caution - watch carefully Prix infested system and NPR gate-building. Otherwise you might find your civvies waltzing their precious freighters right in the middle of a Prix battlefleet.

Just happened to me in my current game, a freighter waltzing in the midle of a nine-ship precursor fleet that I already knew about.

Our TKFS Geology team has found more minerals on the jungle world of Tropico in the Theta Persei system... ten of the eleven minerals are present, although four of them are at only 10% concentration. The skill of the TKFS Geology team is now up to +366%, that's an average of more than +73% per team member.

EDIT:

The fifth, sixth and seventh Bayonets are under construction, and the ESN Aggressive, ESN Belligerent, ESN Defiant, ESN Cor Caroli, ESN Chimerae, ESN Krakatoa and ESN Stromboli are all in refit, being upgraded to more advanced models.

The slow troop transports have finally reached the jump-off position in the Gliese 229 system, at the jump point into 82 Eridani. We can now launch the operation to purge the Prix presence from the three occupied moons in the 82 Eridani star system.

Our Combined Fleet now totals sixty-four ships, not including Parasites such as Fighters and Assault Boats. Fifty-seven of them are present for the planetary invasion mission, and the other seven are refitting at Earth.

Our assault force has entered the 82 Eridani system, and is heading for the first of the three Prix-occupied moons... the fourth moon of the sixth planet.

These are the targets of the invasion, the three Prix-occupied moons of the sixth, tenth and eleventh planets:
