The three Fighter strikes are fanning out toward the suspected position of the Prix snooper. Once they arrive on-station, we will flip our active sensors back on and "ping" the surrounding space... hopefully, the snooper will be nearby.

Success!

G179_Prix.jpg

When we flip our active sensors back on, the Prix snooper is boxed between our First Fleet and the pre-positioned Fighter Squadrons! This should be a massacre, since the Fighters are twice as fast as the snooper, and too small for him to lock onto unless they come very close to him... far closer than necessary to launch our missile strike.

The ranges are all in the 300 m-km region. We will launch missiles at 50 m-km.

Perseus Strike launches missiles at 54.1 m-km range. The Pegasus and Cetus strikes will hold fire until we see the results of the alpha-strike.

EDIT:

Target destroyed by our alpha-strike. An impressive series of secondary explosions on-board, including one strength-30. All Fighters are now headed back to their Carriers.

EDIT:

First Fleet has declared the Gliese 33 system "secured", and is headed back to Earth.

EDIT:

While First Fleet returns to Earth, Second Fleet has set out to cleanse another Prix infestation in P Eridani.

Deprixification works like a charm, it seems.

So, time to go crazy, crank up the difficulty to 120, turn on invaders, and turn up the NPR races dial to 20? :D

I hope I'm not too close to retirement yet :p

You are 51. Mandatory retirement age is 61.

Unfortunately, there seems to be some sort of big battle being fought elsewhere in the galaxy, and I've been stuck on five-second turns for what seems like forever. In the past two (real life) days of play, I've only managed to advance the clock by a few hours. First Fleet hasn't even managed to leave the Gliese 33 system yet. Hopefully, the embattled aliens will either triumph or die in the near future... this is getting boring.

EDIT:

Cool... by setting the game to "Auto-Turns" and just letting it run for an hour or two, I managed to bulldoze my way through the 5-second turn interrupts. Whatever was going on elsewhere in the galaxy seems to have stopped, and we are back to normal turns.

Second Fleet (Admiral Autonomous) has arrived in the Prix-dominated P Eridani system.

Is that 5100 tonne wreck one of ours? Because it's not a size I recognise from the Prix or other aliens.

Yes, that's one of our old model scouts. It shows as "Unknown Class" because that class of ship is no longer on our list of designs... once the last one was scrapped, I deleted the class.

Oi, this seems like a major flaw in the game engine.

The game has flaws. Random errors abound, a strange semi-manual installation procedure, a very bad interface from a useability perspective, and some parts of the game have _really_ rough edges. Such as this 'time increment interrupt' business.
But it's still a very good game. :)

From what I understand, by checking the 'Auto-turn' box, it will not do the combat interrupts for battles you cannot see (according to the wiki anyway).

Aye.

Second Fleet under Admiral Autonomous has detected four Manchu class Prix FACs (Fast Attack Craft) in the P Eridani system.

G182_Prix.jpg

We are launching our Super-Streak-AS air superiority Fighters now.

EDIT:

... and now a Qara class Prix Cruiser:

G183_Prix.jpg

They`ll need to do quite a bit better than that, though. Range to FACs about 95 m-km. Range to the Cruiser about 950 m-km.

EDIT:

Our Super-Streak-AS air superiority Fighters have launched missiles at the FACs from 30 m-km range. Our Star-III Destroyer Escorts have already fired a salvo of long-range anti-Fighter missiles at the FACs from 60 m-km range. Those two salvos should be more than enough to take out all four targets... it would probably be enough to kill them two or three times over, in fact.

The four Manchus have flipped on their active sensors, while still 26 m-km from our air superiority Fighters and 56 m-km from our Second Fleet. Interesting... it's hard to believe that they can really see the Fighters at that range. Prix psychological warfare?

G184_Prix.jpg

EDIT:

All four FACs destroyed by our air superiority Fighters. Just the Cruiser remains to be engaged... plus any further so-far-undiscovered opponents.

A one-Carrier strike should be enough to take down the Qara Prix Cruiser.

EDIT:

The Cephus Strike has launched missiles at 54 m-km range-to-target.

EDIT:

Target destroyed.

Another hostile contact... this time with a Prix Timurad Cruiser. We will alter course to intercept, in order to reduce the flight-time for our next Fighter strike.

At last, revenge for our fallen!

Cassiopeia Strike launched. We will fire missiles at 54 m-km.
