I had wanted to add some new habitable planet types, but I can't seem to get one to work without crashing when trying to view the Surface Screen. I assume I'm missing some key file that tells the surface what to do, but I could be wrong on that part as well.

Just in the interests of getting things to work, I have just taken the continental world, copied everything, and renamed "continental" to "savanna"

So I have an extra pc_savanna entry in common/planet_classes/00_planet_classes.txt
I have four savanna planet entities in gfx/models/planets/planetary_entities.asset as well as diffuse, specular, and normal .dds files in the same folder.
I have four .dds files in gfx/portraits/environments for the terrain, and one for the sky.

Everything works until I try to view the surface of a savanna planet. The planetary summary tab works, but going into the surface tab crashes to desktop. Am I still missing some bit that makes the surface work?

Thanks.

Do you have backgrounds pc_savanna_large_1.dds and pc_savanna_large_2.dds in gfx\interface\icons\tile_backgrounds ? That's where the actual surface icons seem to be looked up (as pc_planettype for habitable planets).

If that's not it, does it mention any missing files in the error logs?

That was it. Didn't have the icons. Don't know how I missed them.

Thank you.
