One thing i would like to see in the future is that after you have held onto a territory for say thirty years it becomes a part of your core territory, i.e territory you have a national shield on especially if it is contiguous with your own current core territories. i think it also fair to allow more than one country to believe that a province is thiers by right.
Say I annex or inherit a country and manage to hold onto it until the nationalism dissapears, I should be able to consider it my lands. that way I may gain permanent cb against someone who takes it in a war.
if the territory revolts and splits away i think that you should lose the territory shield after thirty or so years, especially if you have neutral to good relations with them
