Computer:
Athlon 2500+ XP
1 GB DDR RAM
RAdeon 9200 Atlantis Video
Windows XP

Game: North American Hoi2 Patched to 1.1.

When joining multiplayer, everything works well, until I attempt to press "back" either to the maine screen or from inside a game to the lobby.
If I press back, the computer will lock, and not "program is stale" lock.
It locks solid, no mouse support, no beeps, nothing. However, the music continues and the moniter continues to display the last screen.

Total reboot is the only opinion. Right now I kill Hoi2 before I dare press Back.
Im guessing it performs some fatal protection overwriting or something that would seriously disrupt XP. The fact that the music keeps going even though XP has suffered a brain freeze was odd, until I remembered that it loads music on something so that they dont need constant refreshing. I also considered it could be the internet connection, mine being 56k, but I dont experience terrible issues and has no problem until I hit that button.

Iv seen it before, but this error occurs EVERY time I have tried to press it. Im counting 6 solid, identical lockups in a row. Note, it does not lock on ANY of the buttons other than "back" for multiplayer from lobby to mainscreen or multiplayer game to lobby.

All MP issues in the MP forum, bug reporting following the instruction in the sticky thread.

No insult to Castellon, but if it even has the word MP in it, he seems to send it here. Even though this seems like a tech-support matter.

Unfortunately I can't help you, if I could, I would.

this happens to me too

Mine was caused by my software firewall (Zonealarm) not being setup correctly after i installed a new patch

not sure if this helps

As the MP community grows and gets more sophisticated, the problems that people encounter playing MP will be dealt with by the MP community. This process has worked wonderfully well for EU2.

There are a lot of people that play HOI2 MP. Lots of them have experienced problems that are unique to multiplayer, which is why tech support that deals with multiplayer issues are sent here. MP tech support issues go unanswered in the tech forum because most of the folks that review that forum don't play MP. This idea that MP community handles MP problems is tried and true. Past experience says it works if the community is willing to take part in assisting people who are having problems.

I run into the same problem, Raideur. And I'm not trying to simply be argumentative, Stonewall, but I don't see how either myself or any other "regular" helpful MP player can come up with a fix.

My "fix" is to repeatedly reboot the computer whenever I "go back". I'm a fairly stable host, but this undermines my ability to do so.

Not being argumentative at all. This problem has existed since EU1. Its caused by the various hardware/software configurations on your computer and the way the HOI2 program interacts with it. There is no "fix" per se for the problem. Its just an inconvenience we have to deal with. Perhaps in 1.3, Johan will go through the code and try and smopoth this issue out. I don't know. Although, when MP is actively running, I've never experienced stability problems except the occasional lag, which is pretty much unavoidable.
