So I am playing the After the End mod and about to reform the Occultist religion. I am trying to figure out what is thematically appropriate.

I am thinking of Unyielding since I imagine New England will be subject of holy wars once I reform the religion. Also the history indicates that for generations New England has been an Occultist stronghold that other religions have had trouble penetrating. My main concern will be that my vassals will not try and convert provinces despite expanding by themselves.

I'm going for Hierocratic simply because I want my own pope. (Cthulhu pope or Shub, ex.)

I am going to take animistic as the visions are already apart of the unreformed religion. For the second one I thinking of going with the Call of the Old ones. It's the occultist one using the Children of Perun picture. I assume the fact that it is there is telling me to take it.

Does this feel appropriate? Alternative suggestions welcome.

I would say that a ancestral veneration is more thematic then anamism I think a reformed occult would move away from culty practice and be come more formal keeping track of lineage and who was blessed by what also prolestririseing works well with this set after all we have been blessed we should spread the knowledge of the old ones although unyielding is still good if you don’t mind having to convert all your county’s yourself

Can the mods make a subforum for ATE already? There's so many threads being made about it :)

Unyielding is good but it takes a long time when you only have a few vassals here and there converting their provinces. It's thematic as either a stronghold or "We guard the realms of men from the horrors beyond the stars" theme. However the supreme orient is still calling great holy wars so I think it was pointless from a game play perspective. Maybe when the redcoats show up it will change my mind but till then I wish I had gone with proselytizing. Still ended up sponsoring a couple of foreigners mass conversions over the next century.

As for the ancestor veneration, I'm not sure if they'd do that. Their religion is supposed to be based of the Prophet Lovecraft, Scribe Stephen king and if their holy site is any indication, the legend of sleepy hollow. I don't feel like any of those seem to scream ancestor veneration. Then again the shadow over inns mouth and the esoteric order of Dagon being one of their secret orders gives more than enough wiggle room for that position.
