Finnmark and Lappland both have very low populations, and it is quite easy to send in a colonist to change the culture. If we don't want the cultures to be changed so easily, the populations of those provinces could be increased to city size... What do you think?

The number of culture tags we can use is limited, but there are lots of native ones which can be done away with. We could replace Aleutian, Polynese, Hawaiian, Aborigine, etc. with a generic "Natives" culture, or have those provinces have no culture at all.... this would free up many tags.

The king was effectively sitting in Copenhagen, so at least Copenhagen should be the capital.

The Union also meant that trade with Greenland no longer was conducted from Norway, but from Denmark. Denmark took direct control.

Given the feudal nature of the Union, where the local aristocracies came under increasing pressure from the crown, I suppose the IGC version is the correct one.

But, please, change the avatar and flag. It's so freaky looking!

I wonder if there are any alternatives? As far as I know, Denmark was the first kingdom in Scandinavia to adopt the cross as a national symbol (that crusade in Estonia and all).

Norway had the lion with the axe, and Sweden the Folkunga lions.

A lion and a cross, perhaps?

Should Denmark have German culture?

I'd say yes. The kings were German, German nobles were given positions in the bureaucracy. So, there is as much case for giving them German as Scandinavian, actually. Seeing that the Ottomans and Venice have all sorts of odd cultures, I see little problem in adding German to Denmark.

Giving cultures away for free sounds too easy to me.

Sweden did hold a significant part of Northern Europe. Was Sweden as infested by German nobles as Denmark-Norway?


I've been looking at manpower too. As Denmark I get 0 out of Nyland, but Sweden got 2. There's also a huge lot in Svealand... can you enlighten me about whether that area is infested with cities?

The manpower in Sjælland, Jylland and Skåne seems right.

As for Sweden I'm more inclined to vote no.

I don't know how Germanized Sweden was and how swedish the north german part they conquered.

German culture in Sweden...hmm..let´s see, the "Bergslagen" province was heavily populated with german miners...many German noble families arrived during Albrecht von Mecklenburg´s reign..The Cities were also very Germanized

Well, I wouldn´t know what´s going on in Sweden...I am almost attached to the computer.. ..German culture is no big issue for me..I would like danish culture in Sweden right now...beer-culture..

How should we handle the royal elections up to the point of Christian II? And should we replace that rather boring Swedish monarch file up until Gustav Vasa? I for one vote for making the Norwegian monarchs dormant and use the Danish ones until a player controlled Norway decides to go against Denmark.
