What about other Kir'ko units? Do people only play Engulfers? Generally I got the feeling most of their units were hit with a nerf?

Either way I don't play multi so I can't exactly tell how much this is an issue.

When I played with Engulfers I got a general feel that they're pretty easy to hit and kill, but I might've not used all the tricks at their disposal...
There is a ranked competitive group where the strategy that wins the most is the go to strategy. This has been engulfers for the longest time. The rest of kirko is also decent but they arent a reliable "I win" button.

Sucks to be them I guess? But seriously I don't understand why some people can only focus on one thing in light of so many good changes from the devs who really do care (they could very well not give a rats ass as certain company that starts with B) especially when mods are a thing. I understand being disappointed but is it just me or is this a bit ungrateful... and just to be clear there is nothing bad about communicating feedback to devs, but I don't think it should eclipse all the other acomplishments.

Some people are like that sadly. Can't see the trees for the forest or however that line goes. xD

Peace be upon you, swarm herald of the ungrateful people!..

Whole patch is a huge tweak. New content is cool. Economy tweaks are cool, etc. etc. Most unit decisions and some mod decisions are good.

Should everyone add themselves to a chorus of lovers-and-thankers? Or at least somebody has to be a pink-glasses destroyer.

If those who make progress would only receive thanks and praises, we wouldn't even have computers today.

There were long sheets of descriptions and explanations why some things demand tweaks. Those things came from active pvp players who I believe deserve being heard. And those things were heard... Particularly. We got tweaks of good but not yet very imbalanced mechs.

"Mods are present" - Tbh i don't think that any game developer would like to hear that their game is only balanced well customly.

Added l8r: "why are you focusing on one thing?" That "one thing" constantly ruined game experience for (not many as the game is not that popular but yet a good % of) mp players. And the problem was spoken about again and again. Why should everybody tolerate those blind spots keeping in mind that it was stated by the devs that key decisions on this field have been made recently?

If anybody pretends to know better - I challenge that one!

Well no, constructive critique is meaningful, but from my point of view you represent a type of player that opens a patch log, goes to look for one particular thing and after not being satisfied with the outcome proceeds to comment a patch is "not enough". All this because there is a strategy that is favored by a a group of competitive players, so something that players are exploiting (you can argue all you want, for me it is what it is). And from what I recall you can even use mods to address the issue. And because in games there is no empty void, as soon as this will be changed people will find another "I win strategy". That is how it works.

You can be dissatisfied with an outcome, but imo it's ungrateful to be focusing on one particular thing, and this is what you seem to be doing since the patch was released. I know from my line of work that it's very demobilizing when after a huge amount of work you are met with immediate critique or nitpicking. And this is not resting on laurels because time and time again Triumph has proven to have very responsive devs, that keep an open communication policy with their fan-base and constantly work on a game they released almost half a year ago. I can only name a handful of similar developers like Creative Assembly or Amplitude Studios for instance. Examples? Assembly resurrect exploit? Fixed. Prospector movement exploit? Done and gone. Boring mid-game? Constantly tweaked. Unclear economy? Trying to make it streamlined and clearer. Overview maps illegible? They added color fillers. All this are things I remember very well being posted right here on this forum, and usually by only one or two players (don't know about discord because I do not attend).

You can proceed with having your way, but I personally can put a blind eye on some things when this many other things were given to me because they seem to care for what people tell them.

It's very easy. Prime Rank Engulfer + Guiding Presence.

... and Guiding Presence got a nerf.
Seriously, we've heard your complaint now. Tombles even responded, even if it's not how you'd liked him to. You can now stop spamming it all over the update threads. Thank you.

I don't want to blame for those or something, but I see someone saying same things over time using different words just after reaching out that the initial words are popular. Populism or not, idc. What i care about is that a post about a problem is being overflown by posts containing no exact idea but "shut up and be proud, son"

Here u represent a group of people who find their way in SP. I've nothing against me respecting your way of playing. Can I kindly ask you respect mine?

I think you guys just see things differently. Imagine this: there is a Medieval-age Wonder technology in Civ, that allows your regular Knights to have Tanks-like stats. So anyone who builds it just roflstomps all other nations. Does it prevent other ways to win? No. Is it an endgame-level tech? No, when you have modern tanks. Can AI use this to it's fullest? No, it's too dumb to focus solely on this unit. Of course, you can mod this Wonder out. You can have a gentlemen agreement to never build it or restrict amount of Knights. But why this Wonder is allowed to exist in first place is what MP community's asking.

To be clear - I'm solely SP player, and yes, I too find Engulfers ridiculously powerful compared to other comparable units

This is not a big nerf. Yes, using the skill will be more difficult, but you'll have 3 kirko heroes. And skill property wasn't nerfed at all. Devs could just delete this skill (like it was for Compelling Presence) and that would fix a whole set of issues.

Ignoring some part of game isn't right, I think.

Spamming or replying direct questions? Don't you see the difference? Or is it just a wish to have the last word?

You have stated your issue more then enough times already. I believe Tombles registered it. I wouldn't even be surprised if they released a hotfix that addresses the issue as they've done so a couple of times already (ex. Prospector balancing which came right after a big patch was released). And what is wrong with praising a game developer, even if this is "same stuff, different words"? You need to encourage people to continue their work so they won't feel it's meaningless. Are boards supposed to be only about pointing out the faults from the get go?

Yep because I know how multiplayer games work, that's why I mostly stay away from them. People find a strategy because "if it gives you and edge you should do it" or "you use all the tools at your disposal" and other excuses, things that could easily be mitigated with different approach. But usually that's not the case because some people are tryhards and they don't want to be "left behind", "competitive nature" and such. And my point in this case is not about disrespecting how other players play the game but respecting the devs work, which is not done by continuously nagging about one single feature (or two) that "breaks the game" in their eyes.

I don't want this discussion to continue as we are not disagreed in most things though it could look like that. Like nobody argues that many good things are done or Triumph are cool. Those things are not the point.

But I want to state 1 point. I made 2 posts describing the problem. I made them very clear so that everyone sees it. All other replies are... Replies. Mostly replies to your posts.

So, we are looking into this, but we have quite a big problem that whatever change we put in we don't really have time to test. So, if we mess up, we're kind of stuck with it. So, we have people who've made their own suggestions, and we're trying to figure it out. So (and please note you literally only have a couple of hours here before I have to make a decision)m what would YOU do to fix this?

Please note, in a perfect world:

1) We'd change a minimal amount of stuff, since we don't have time to test
2) We can't change text, since we don't have time to translate it
3) We'd like the unit to be usable afterwards, even if you DON'T use min-maxing strats to make the unit super powerful

Ty very much!
1. Dread Reapr's solution to GP: targets all friendly units. Non-psybuff. Range and eff range: 1. Acc +15. Once per combat.
Essence link lo longer gives additional shields per charge/it is free to use/break.
2. Zaskow solution. Remove GP from heroes completely.
3. Rest solutions (chose any):
1. Engulfer loses swarm shield/
2. transfer pain targets ground only/
3.engulfers are now range 5. Can get more damage in return.
4. engulfers get single shot ability instead of repeating/
5. new reworked GP targets ground only/
6. biochemical branch loses electrification mod/
7.heritor mod shield applies on ground only/
8. shield granting psybuff and tac op get nerfed.
9. Trasfer pain gets reduced range or less dam. red.
10. Engulfer vehicle gets cosmite cost and higher energy cost.
11. Kir'ko dream sharing doesnot target heroes.
12. Veteran costs 2 points (it is very strong for forcelevelling and site digging)
13. Engulfers need more to research, are more expensive.
14. Defensive mods and skills work worse with flyers.
15. Some units or mods of each race become anti-air specific.
16. There are ways to double gravity fliers.
17. Engulfers lose stagger resistance.
18. Engulfers get another prime rank bonus.
19. More aoe skills can target air units.
20. It becomes harder to dispel debuffs from air units (psy op tier 1)
21. Promethean hero dispel can target air units, gets more range.
22. Flyers get a limited amount of damage reduction

Note that barragers (as hero vehicles) and snipers (that have a repeated aoe psybuff) can replace engulfers
(DreadReapr opinion) if they get nerfed and GP gets no nerfs.

Judging by how things work in IT companies you probably need to book QA time for tests, and this might be hard on projects that are in BAU state (so in support/maintenance) and don't have relegated QA time on the project. And vanilla Planetfall is probably in this state atm (most of the staff is probably working on DLC). I don't know Triumphs (and Paradox) interanal structure, but to people who think that it's a matter of a dev changing a few lines in the code and playing the game afterwards to see how it turned out - it's not. It's a much more complicated (and usually formal) process plus people like to especially look for and point out faults once they're in a release so you gotta be extra careful. And like Tombles stated OP-ness of Engulfers comes from a particular set of buffs/hero skills not the unit itself.

Regardless, it looks like we're on the right track for sorting out this specific issue.
