Here is my original thread: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...tic-Cognatic-inheritance-question.&p=13487776

ck2_2.jpg

My queen (#1) died after her sister (#2) died. Her sister had sons, but it seems agnatic-cognatic primogeniture does not consider them at all because she herself never held the throne. Next in line was my cousin (#3) who was married to another cousin (#4). He died before he inherited. Although he had sons who should be next in line, the game put my female cousin (#4) ahead of them, and them next. I cannot figure out why.

If it got reduced to female succession, I can't figure out why my cousin (#4) would be next in line ahead of her female cousins. I also can't figure out why #4's uncle (the grey-haired non-king with male heirs) didn't count. He had male children too, and it seems they should be in line to inherit through him. He was married to #3's older sister. My theory is that those kids got counted as HER kids, not HIS, so they were skipped because they were children of a female who had not inherited.

In my interpretation of agnatic-cognative primogeniture, sons inherit, then their sons, then younger sons, then their sons, etc. Thus, #3's sons should have been next in line, not my female cousin #4. And if for some reason it skipped them (because they also counted as hers, not his), I can't figure out why the code (which seemed to be resorting to female inheritance) ignored female cousins who were the offspring of men more senior than her father. I also can't figure out why that living king didn't inherit; does high crown authority forbid a foreign king from inheriting the kingdom?

None of the marriages were matrilineal, none of the involved were bastards, all of the involved were in de jure England. I have a save-file somewhere/ Thank you for any help you can provide!

Save file is attached -- in this one, John (#3) is still alive, but you can see how Constance (#4) is next in line after John.

This occured at the same time as another odd error. You can't tell from the save-file, but after #1 died, one of her baronies was inherited by a difference princess, while the rest all went to Constance (#4); I am not sure why, since they were all governed by primogeniture and not gavelkind.

Thank you again for your review.

I had a similar problem, posted in this bug report thread (save file included), but it was more obvious since my would-be heir was a direct male descendant.

Might it be related to the fact that these character lack the "this is a close member of your dynasty" tag? Maybe it has something to do with the female ruler?
