Summary
AI does not attach Splinter Armies (Especially Mercs)Description
The AI does not attach splinter armies to main armies via the normal attach feature. Instead the splinter armies just follow around the main army manually. This is especially apparent in the case of mercs as they are always desiganted as splinter armies and can't be merged. Therefore, the AI has unattached mercenary armies in cases where it would otherwise merge armies. This leads to two problems:(i) different arrival times and more importantly
(ii) The AI strength evaluation only considers multiple armies as one, if they are attached via the normal attach feature. This leads to the AI often being unable to engage.
Steps to reproduce
(i) Load the attached savegame.(ii) Ctrl click the Ottomans.
(iii) Use the commands: aiview and mapmode aieval.
(iv) Hover over the armies in Branicevo.
(v) Let one day pass to reinitialize AI assignment.
(vi) Note the main and splinter designation.
(vii) Select the 4k main stack (Balkan Ordusu).
(viii) Hover over the province of Tolcu. Check the balance check under Fight branch. Note that it evaluates negatively.
(ix) Select the 14k merc stack (Zeybeks).
(x) Hover over the province of Tolcu. Check the balance check under Fight branch. Note that it evaluates positively.
(xi) Conclude that the stacks get evaluated separately.
(xii) Attach the 14k merc stack to the 4k main stack.
(xiii) Let one day pass to update evaluation. Note that the AI has overwritten the attachment. But the evaluation still considers the armies attached until the next day.
(xiv) Select the 4k main stack and hover over the province of Tolcu. Check the balance check under Fight branch. Note that it evaluates positively now.
