Any tips for editing these files?

I am finding that AI Germany is getting raped by Heavy bombers by the mid '40s. She is spending far too much of her (now tiny) IC on Submarines and wanted to correct this imbalance.

The current Core AI file (GER_1936.ai) for Germany seems to be dated as follows.. # Modified for CORE2 0.50 by Dec152000
Can this be correct?

It seems that submarines make up 18% of the IC build of units. Waaaay too much for my liking!
Also, medium armor brigades are not listed in the build list (unless they are called something else).
MultiRoleFighters are very low in the priority. Given the power of US/UK bombing raids I want to increase this..

I have seen some additional build AD files in the 'Switch' Subfolder, can anyone tell me how these work please?

Anything that touches the war is in the switch directory.

Do not expect quick results if you start playing around with the AI. This is serious modding, but fun when you really know what you are doing.

The build percentages are numbers of units rather than IC percentages. We are actually quite happy with the GER AI we have now, of course "now" being 0.60.10, which you cannot - yet - use.

Yeah it took me a while to figure that out, strange then that it has to add up to 100.
 
Just to be clear:

the percentages of division build HAVE to add up to 100
the percentages of brigade builds DON´T HAVE to add up to 100

The percentages are percentages of the number of units built, so battleship = 1 means that 1 battleship will be built among every 100 units started.

Even with the very high precentage of submarines you commented on, we do not get anywhere near the historical number of submarines for GER (based on the single ship model that is still in 0.50). So we have to boost submarine construction by ai event, and even then we do not achieve the historical numbers.

Add to that the fact that the AI does not know how to handle the huge number of single ships, thus leaving most of them in port, and you realise why we went to the extreme trouble of eliminating single ships for 0.60.
