Now the Führer was pleased. It was the greatest victory so far. More troops than the whole french army would be captured very soon. But the soviets had more.

The german armies were still quite fresh and morale was at its peak, the great victory encouraged more young people to join the army while there were still enemies to fight.

To the south there was a smaller pocket which was to be dissolved quickly. After 5 days the last enemy was captured.

The front on day 25 of the offensive:

On day 30 the Führer came up with a new plan to capture the area to Moscow. It would require the sixth army panzertroops to smash through russian lines again and to form a pocket directly southwest of Moscow, which should be captured at a later moment. To the north there would be formed another small pocket by the Lithuanian panzerkorps and the 4th army.

The central offensive in detail.

The Canadians tried get fancy and invaded Danzig. Though small in size, the invasion was a disaster for the german supply lines to russia, it cost the germans weeks in supplies, the russian offensive was delayed considerably. Immediatly the reserves of the eastern front were transported to poland to deal with that outrageous invasion. There would be no beer in Warsaw!

Meanwhile the panzerkorps drive on to moscow...

The japanese in southern china suffer another horrible defeat in Guanxi. The Japanese ambassador in Berlin is laughed at by the Führer.

You seem to be making pretty good progress against the Soviets. Though I found it a bit funny that you've been allying with weak states like Latvia or Tibet.

Wow, first time I saw HoI3 with these simplified provs. The counters look pretty cool with pics tho. :D

Anyway, impressive progress. Towards Moskva kameraden!

Thanks. The offensive will continue...

It is pretty awesome of Canada to invade your rear end like that. How deep did they penetrate? :D

I liked it, too. It was the only totally undefended german port on the continent and they selected it. Never thought that Danzig was in danger. You can see the Canadian invasion in this update. It is really annoying because they cut the main supply line to the east front, large portions of my army went completely out of supply for a longer period. But at the same time its also realistic. If in real life someone landed in eastern prussia during the war with the soviets, germany would have had real trouble to get supplies to the eastern front.

The Canadians were a real threat to the german supplies in the east. They quickly conquered large portions of western poland and were on their way to Czecholslovakia when the first german reserves arrived at the scene of the crime. They immediately put pressure on the beachhead.

hoi314.jpg

A week later the beachhead was in severe trouble and cut off from the supplying port. German panzers had no trouble breaking any resistance...

Meanwhile the soviets were in deep trouble keeping up with the quick and powerful panzer strikes which cut deep incursions into soviet territory. Another huge pocket was forming southwest of Moscow and south of Leningrad. The 4th and 5th army were launching a broad offensive to drive back the russians between the two pockets and gain more ground. The Romanians were capturing Sevastopol and were unopposedly going for the Caucasian mountains and the rich oil fields in Baku. The soviet union had more than one problem now. They lacked the troops to hold back Romanian armies and to stop german advances.

hoi317.jpg

To the north a small pocket was forming but could not be closed yet due to heavier resistance.

hoi316.jpg

By the end of June the center of the front was a complete mess for the soviets. Although hundreds of divisions were encircled and lost they still held their ground formidably between Moscow and Leningrad. One might not think of how the war would have gone did the first 20 days not bring such an overwhelming victory.

hoi318.jpg

The romanians were assaulting rapidly. The Führer already warned romanian leaders not to capture too much soviet ground before the germans could catch up in the north. Romanian lines were thinning out quickly in the vast plains of southern russia...

This is the HOI3 AAR Ive been waiting for. Very cool, do continue. :)

Too bad the AI is still an idiot though.

I am sorry to report that i have discontinued this game due to crashes when saving the game (maybe due to my modding the game). The Soviet AI showed strange behaviour in October, abandoning the whole german front. Italians invaded Murmansk and I declared war on the US, but no US invasions happened anywhere.

Ill wait for patch 1.3 or even 1.4 to play the game again as its no fun to play now, even with the AI improvement patches. Meanwhile i saw the Arsenal of Democracy Dev diaries, maybe ill look into that game first, seems much more fun right now.

Hope you enjoyed the AAR, maybe ill do another one after the patch :)

Uh oh, hope this doesn't make german high command send Guderian to the Fuhrer to try to talk him out of slowing the Romanians down!
